Walk Cycles
29 August 2007 - 04:59 AM
A trend I've noticed recently in a lot of hacks and fangames is to use the Sonic 1 walk cycle. This intrigues me because I always thought the sonic 2 final walk cycle was superior. It had the same sprite art style, same motions, but many more frames resulting in a much smoother animation. I'm just interested in what people's reasons for this are. Is it artistic or technical? Is there some flaw I'm not seeing in the sonic 2 ones? I realize that the obvious answer is that many hacks are sonic 1 hacks, but I noticed in megamix that while super sonic, sonic uses his sonic 2 walk cycle. So the capability to use it is there. So yeah, thanks.
