  1. Cover Art for Hacks

    16 February 2011 - 11:05 AM

Many hacks run well enough on actual hardware to warrant their existence as repro's.

So why not create cover art for them?

And FYI, for Sonic 1 Megamix, consider the possibility of a CD+Cart single, to where it's one case with both the last Genny version and the most recent SCD version. In this case, it should combine the red-stripe and the blue-stripe of the later Genny and Sega CD, respectively. Though the Genny-only version should use the original black grid design.

In fact, here's my thoughs for the American versions:

    * Black grid: Character X in Sonic 1, S1 Megamix (Genny-only release), hacks with audio and/or layout and/or visual and/or basic engine mods
    * Red-stripe: S1/S2 hacks with advanced engine mods, post-S2 games (from S3 and forward)

Non-American version will use whatever standard used in their country.
  2. Changing music in Sonic CD?

    01 February 2011 - 11:26 PM

If Sonic CD's music is stored as redbook audio, could one, in theory, swap out the tracks with new ones? If so, what would the rules be? Does it have to be the same length as the original song? What bitrate does it need to be?
  3. Turning Sonic into a shmup

    01 February 2011 - 11:22 PM

With enough ASM magic, could a Sonic game, preferably 3&K, be turned into a horizontal shmup?

    Just a thought.
