"Deathmatch Game"
16 July 2011 - 12:04 AM
I'm rewriting Super Mario War. Super Mario War is a 2D deathmatch game created by Florian Hufsky, and is based on an old (DOS?) game called Mario War written by Samuele Poletto. Ever since Hufsky's death, Super Mario War development has stopped and is no longer supported. Because I don't have the patience to learn C++, I'm rewriting the game in Java so I (and two friends who are helping me) can support it without having to rely on anyone else. Also, this game will not be Mario-based. The stock skins, graphics, and sounds will be our graphic designer's and sound artist's own creation. However, one of our goals is to make this game as customizable as possible, like Super Mario War. Every visual and audial aspect of the game can be customizable through skins, graphics packs, sound packs, and maps. The game can appear to be Mario-based if one wants to make it so.
Follow my progress here.
Also, if any of you know Java and Slick2D and want to help, let me know! I could always use help.
EDIT: Apparently, links appear to be invisible unless you mouse over them, so I bolded them. -
Help me with my Java project
23 September 2010 - 04:43 PM
I just started my Java class, and our preliminary unit is just us messing with Karel J. Robot. Our final project on it is to use ingenuity to do something awesome with it, like make a game out of it.
I'm working on a game where you control a robot. It is to my understanding that to control the robot with the standard WADS scheme, you need to use scanners. However, every time you press a key, you have to hit enter after it so the program registers the keystroke.
Does anyone know how I can make it so I don't have to press enter after pressing a key to make the program know I pressed the key? -
I fucked up my hard drive
18 September 2010 - 04:15 PM
Before I start, here's my current hard drive setup: I have three hard drives, two of which are in a RAID 1. The third hard drive I partitioned to create three additional partitions, each approximately 100 gigabytes in size. Each hard drive is one terabyte.
I intended one of the partitions from my third hard drive to be for openSUSE, and I tried installing openSUSE today on it.
This is where I fucked up. Somehow, it partitioned my entire C: drive (which was in a RAID 1), decreasing the size of it from one terabyte to about 410 gigabytes. I checked my copy of partition wizard, and I see there are several partitions the openSUSE installer created. openSUSE did not install onto the intended drive I wanted.
Here's a picture to elaborate.
Notice how Disk 1 has many partitions under it. Before, there were only two partitions: C: and the "active and boot" *:
What I want to do is restore my C: drive, effectively combining all partitions into one big partition. However, I can tell that somehow openSUSE has installed itself in the partitions. If I combine all the partitions, I want the drive to house only Windows, with no openSUSE stuff in there.
Do I just format the partitions and merge them, or do something else?
Help is urgently needed. -
Need a little bit of help
04 January 2009 - 03:06 PM
So I'm about 90% done with a map I'm making. All I need to do is add dogs to the map. I go to the CoDWaW mod tools wiki (specifically this article) and follow the directions. Everything I need to add - the pathnodes and spawns and stuff like that - are supposed to be in the map_source\_prefabs\mp\ folder, but no such folder exists. Does anyone know where I could get said prefabs (and the ones for the SD and CTF gametypes as well)? -
Little tiny things I found...
20 May 2006 - 10:03 AM
Hello, I'm EvilTrailMix, I'm new to the forum, and since my discoveries I posted at SoST go unnoticed, I decided to post here. Anyways, after some experimenting with savestates, I found this:
Which seems to be a remnant from Sonic 1. Also, I found this very disturbing music inside the ROM...
Disturbing Music
Sorry if this is old news or if this has been discovered.
