  1. Sega CD PAR code creation and usage

    19 March 2013 - 02:40 AM

Turns out Gens Hacking Version can create Sega CD PAR codes. But it can't use them. When using them no effect takes place. But, Genesis GX on the Wii has Sega CD PAR code support. You can actually make codes using Gens Hacking Version, then use them on the wii. I don't know if any other emulators support sega cd PAR codes yet but I don't think so. Here's some codes I created for The Terminator (Sega CD):

    FFFE1D:0006 Infinite Energy
    FFFE41:0009 Infinite Lives
    FFFE40:003F Infinite Grenades

Later, I might try making some codes for Sonic CD.

Edit: I found out that Gens/GS also supports using Sega CD PAR codes. But it don't accept odd addressed codes so these would need conversion.

FFFE1D:28 Infinite Energy (turn off at score tally)
    FFFE41:09 Infinite Lives
    FFFE40:3F Infinite Grenades

Edit 2: Here's more codes I found. I'm probably done hacking the game cause all the basic codes are covered.

    FFFE42:03 Max Gun
    FFF28E:FFFF Enable Debug/Level Select/Invincibility Cheats
    FFF290:FFFF Enable Debug/Level Select/Invincibility Cheats
    FFF2B5:00 Enemy 1 dies fast
    FFF2E9:00 Enemy 2 dies fast
    FFF31D:00 Enemy 3 dies fast
    FFF351:00 Enemy 4 dies fast
    FFF385:00 Enemy 5 dies fast
    FFF455:00 Enemy 6 dies fast

I started having trouble finding the other enemy dies fast codes so there's some enemies who won't die fast. But with the ones provided it should make getting through the game a little easier at least.
  2. Amy and Blaze unlockable in Sonic 2006?

    28 February 2013 - 12:23 PM

On the cutting room floor someone posted some unlockable methods from gamewinners. Apparently Amy and Blaze are unlockable according to it:

    http://tcrf.net/Talk..._%28Xbox_360%29

Amy Rose: Successfully complete all Soleana mystery missions with an "S" rank.
Blaze the Cat: Successfully complete all Soleana mystery missions.
E-123 Omega: Successfully complete all GUN Commander missions with an "S" rank.
Knuckles the Echidna: Successfully complete all Town Stage missions with an "S" rank.
Miles "Tails" Prower: Successfully complete all Town Stage missions.
Rouge the Bat: Successfully complete all GUN Commander missions.
Shadow the Hedgehog: Complete 'Crisis City' with Sonic.
Silver the Hedgehog: Complete 'Silver the Hedgehog' boss battle with Sonic.

Can someone confirm if this is actually true? If so the wiki needs updating. Models for them were found in the game here: Game Secrets:Sonic the Hedgehog (2006 game)
  3. Microsoft considered acquring Sega

Apparently, before releasing the Xbox, Microsoft considered buying Sega and using their assets to enter the console marketplace.
  4. Sonic 2 Beta 2012 Disassembly Public Release

    08 December 2012 - 07:47 PM

The following is a message from SuperEgg:

"Howdy, this is SuperEgg with the Sonic 2 Beta disassembly.

Back in 2006, Esrael released the original Sonic 2 Beta disassembly. Though most of it was already disassembled, it was a huge mess that nobody would ever want to use. Earlier this year, I took it upon myself to work on the disassembly and have it usable by the general hacking community. Along with Ayla (Nay'r), we quickly got to work on sprucing it up. After about 4 months of commenting, separating, and not to mention modifying some of the less useful parts, we came up with this.

    - New folder organization.
    - All file extension are now bin.
    - Routines such as Game Modes, Art Loading, Compression types, ect; have been split from the main file and put into appropriate folders (see first change)
    - There is now lots of Sub name changes.
    - Compatable with Sonic 2 backporting as far as RAM names go about.
    - Objects were in the process of being split from the main assembly and being placed into their correct folders.
    - Sound Driver and music have it's own folder.
    - A lot of renamed routines.
Also, to add into this exciting package, I have added two things....

    -SonED2 project files
note: I have edited the object definition file, since not all the Sonic 2 objects are the same as they were in the Beta.
    -SonLVL project files
note: all the objects have ?, so if you want to edit the levels, that's fine, but you're out of luck with object definitions.

I would like to mention, this isn't the final release, for we are still in the process of making it 75% better, but most of the changes you see within this disassembly are final.

Special thanks to Ayla for helping getting this giant piece of work.

Edit: oops, I thought I put this in Engineering and Reverse Engineering. Feel free to move it there.
  5. Sega forcing removal of Shining Force videos on YouTube

    01 December 2012 - 08:43 AM

    http://www.destructo...be-239581.phtml

Let's hope that Sega don't go overboard and start making Sonic Hackers remove hack videos or make other people remove Sonic commercials. Hopefully this will only affect Shining Force videos. It sucks non-the-less.
