I did check them but they weren't that funny... and I didn't label them so I'm not sure which is which. These were the only ones I kept:
again I don't remember which zones they were... glad you guys like that so much though. Makes me feel like I did something useful =P

Ah... Good ol' Bogrl/lmade I named an island for a project after it, if I'm not mistaking I called it Bloglarlamade, and this was apparently in the final since I seem to remember it from a previous topic... if I'm not mistaking they said it was from the Bonus Stage.

I screenshotted every zone (except Doomsday as it has no lamppost

) I'll have them up soon.
Edit: ok here:

(Hydrocity, Marble Garden)

(Carnival Night, IceCap)

(Launch Base, Mushroom Hill)

(Lava Reef, Sky Sanctuary)
(No Hidden Palace title in this proto :P)
So, we need to find a way through this formula. Note how they all DO contain the
O and
E I mentioned...

There's nothing too mysterious about it. Obviously the game is trying to show the "Bonus Stage" title card, but by mistake, the game has loaded the patterns for the title card of the level you're playing in instead. Normally for text like this, there would be a complete tileset for every letter in the font at fixed positions. With this, you could have a single set of tiles, and write any text you care to. In this case however, because these letters are so big, and need to be displayed onscreen for a brief time while the level is also visible, they can't afford the space in the VRAM to have an entire font loaded. To get around this, they would have created separate tilesets for the title card of each level, containing just the characters they needed. The two first characters in every title card are probably O and E, most likely because they are part of the word most title cards contain: ZONE, which is why these are the only characters which the "Bonus Stage" title card mappings display correctly in every case.

but you have to admit, Corus Stake is awesome.
well thanks to Qjimbo's awesome double gens thing, I noticed a few things in Lava Reef that I took pics of. On the left is the beta.

A different monitor

It's hard to see but on the left you can see a hole in the wall where one of those annoying enemies emerged.

The beta was a bit more complicated here.

Sorry, I may be being a bit thick here, but how the hell do you even trigger this glitch? From what I can see it's done through the level select in which case how do you pick a zone?

uhm... what glitch?
EDIT:
OH The Doilus Stage glitch?
It's easy:
Pick a zone, hit a sign post in the zone, exit to the level select and enter Bonus Stage 1. Hit a goal thingy so the level restarts and viola!

I'm wondering why "IL" is in one slot though. Did they plan to have more Hill zones? And even early on, Mushroom Hill, the only zone with this combination, was called Mushroom Valley. Makes you wonder...

I must still be doing something wrong. I go into Sky Sanctuary Zone via the level select in 0408, hit a starpost (it doesn;t flash stars as I don;t have enough rings, does it need them?), I do not go into a bonus stage but I hit start, then A, I go into the level select and Bonus 1 is NOT selectable. you press start, it does NOTHING.
EDIT: Never mind, got it working. It's Bonus Stage
2, and you need to have debug turned on. >=P
Yay Corus Stake!

This one's hard to notice, but if you listen to the FBZ1 music long enough, you'll notice that the gap between the main theme and the "echo" of the main theme increases over time, eventually resulting in something really weird.
the music for Flying Battery 1 does the same thing in the sound test of the Sonic 3 final. I am not sure if the between the main music and the echo increases which each loop until it gets weird, but it does start echoing after the first loop, which it doesn't do in the S&K final.

Strangely enough, when I press enter on Bonus Stage 1 or 2 it doent work, nor SSZ A2. This has probably been solved before, don't you need debug enabled? If so, please could somone state the Code? Dammit, I know I'm thick...

Just to illustrate what Nemesis said:
This is the Title font loaded into VRAM when you enter the bonus stage for the first time (and it appears correctly)
This is the Title font for Hidrocity Zone
This is the Title font loaded in the bonus zone, when re-entered after the glitch without hitting the continue pole (Appear as DOILUS STAGE)
EDIT: I made a mistake when doing the glitch. I forgot to go through a continue pole and the glitched bonus stage title relates to another stage name.
Here is the Title font loaded in the bonus zone after the glitch with Hidrocity Zone (Appears as something like DOI(left half of R)(right half of Y)(right half of U)(right half of R)(left half of T)(right half of R)T(left half of Y)CHE )

It's like it's reading the graphics for a different word than "BONUS" (possibly some garbage word left in RAM instead?), while loading the "STAGE" graphics correctly.
