In other news, Sega of Japan is listing a "Sonic Free Riders Xbox 360 Platinum Collection" (ソニック フリーライダーズ Xbox 360reg; プラチナコレクション) release for next month (alongside a Platinum Edition of Virtual-On Force) (mods: feel free to move to the Free Riders topic if desired, unless you can't split posts)

Here's one used to advertise a Sega arcade game back in 1980

and yeah you wouldn't find publicity shots like these anymore!
Nice find, Squirrel! I also notice that flyer has the "odd" G seen on some of the Gremlin/Sega flyers like Deep Scan and Invinco. Anyone ever figure out if that was an official logo or just a regional error (obviously the Space Trek flyer is German, so that's another point for that theory)?

A lot of these early flyers, especially if not produced by Sega themselves, use a much older typeface from 1968 - DXS Yagi Double. The "real" Sega font was developed in-house, and I'm guessing was much harder to prise from the hands of the Japanese at the time.
NiseSega is a fan re-creation but it gets the job done

This is from the SA2 OST. Go to 3:25, and listen after it ends. Why the fuck is there random laughter there? (This isn't just on this video, confirm with your own rips)

Hmm, I wonder what is Fnac using for this?

Many of the letters look different than NiseSega's...

Sound familiar?
...No?
Sound familiar now?
Yep. Same Sample. Crazy how samples get passed around like that.
Thank sammichbars from SSMB for the find.

Someone found something funny while everyone was recording, and it made it into the master? It doesn't sound deliberate.

Though I don't think its deliberate, it seems a bit unscrupulous for that to make it to the master. This is kind of hilarious though! Great Find.

I was thinking the same thing, myself. I think it's pretty funny, too.

I've had similar things happen when recording myself. Caught all-sorts, from laughter and talking, to the sound of someone sawing wood! =P

I made that font back in 1999. It was based on the SEGAWORLD logo. I also made the "Sonic Title Font" at the same time (the font used to spell out "RETRO" in the Sonic Retro logo). Both fonts are extremely outdated, and should be avoided!

Since older Japanese Sonic art is often talked about here
Sonic 1:

Sonic 2:

the translations are pretty bad and the picture quality isn't great but I think you get the jist of it. Now you know the tools used to make the cover art.

Oddly enough, when they show off footage of Sonic 1, they use Esrael's Sonic 1 Gaslight hack! Plus they use footage from Taxman's Sonic CD remake.
