Knuckles was meant to fight against the Biolizard, not Shadow. I think this one is fake, though.

If I recall correctly, Sonic, Knuckles and Robotnik were to be the only playable ones, but they stuck Shadow, Rouge and Tails in as well (I think the reason was fans complaining. Someone was gonna have to fight the Biolizard before that change, so it could be right if I am recalling correctly...not 100% though...

Eggman's model in '06 has his eyes rendered, despite being obscured by his glasses. Do they show up at any point in the game?

There's a point where you can see them in a cutscene, kind of a "if you blink you'll miss it" sort of deal. (Pun incredibly intentional)

I don't know which scene precisely, but I definitely remember seeing it and being surprised to see his eyes for once.

I've heard this so many times before, but nobody's ever given a source. The best anyone's provided is this trailer, and it's perfectly possible they just wanted to keep Shadow, Rouge and Tails a secret at that time.

I think I remember a Dreamcast magazine at the time saying that Tails wasn't going to feature in SA2 - but yeah, that might have just been an assumption based on that original trailer.

While I was checking to see if Knuckles really had his crest disappear in SH's multiplayer mode, I happened to find out a lot of derpy things about the special stages. Those are worth a new post in and off itself, but I'm not gonna double post.
Anyway, here's a video about Knuckle's chest, and about the special stages in Sonic Heroes actually being very easy to complete.

IN that video he could have grabbed the yellow emerald at the start if he ran on the right side wall, the shortest route, as he says it's about not losing speed but it's also about taking the inside line.

Oooooh, something about Sonic Heroes. <3

My mind is only half-blown. To be honest, I can do the special stages very easily, legitimately. Ironically, my method is something like "stay the hell off the ceiling to remain in control". And boosting like a crazy mofo. ;)

What the… how does that crest even disappear? I could understand a texturing error or something, but Knuckles' crest isn't even a texture in Heroes, just some white-colored bunch of polygons. :psyduck:

Unless the animation kinda shoves the crest underneath the rest of his chest somehow…?

It's probably because different, lower-poly models are used for multiplayer to keep the game running at an acceptable rate. Most likely Sonic Team goofed and forgot to add the swoosh in his multiplayer model.

To my knowledge, only 3 sets of Player models exist -- normal gameplay, main menu and cutscene versions, and each cutscene has it's own set of cutscene models because when they made Heroes, they made a point to be as redundant as possible.

Can't find any evidence for 2P-versus models existing separately…

This is a 5 seconds drum loop with a guy pronouncing the English words "Hey! we're the sonicteam". This just gives me a feeling Setsumaru is not an English speaker. Why can't we have some solid Japanese speakers here helping us to contact key Sega people? Is there any Japanese Sonic fans at all that are interested in Sonic development?

He knows good enough English to respond to my questions on Facebook. Here's some of what he said.
"I wrote final boss theme of Sonic3D. And coded a sound driver for GENESIS. When making Sonic3, Sonic&Knuckles, Sonic3D,and the other GENESIS games, I made a SoundFX and coded a sound driver. Sometimes wrote a music."

I then asked about Howard Drossin, and then he said the following. "What!? Do you know Mr.Drossin!? Yes, It's true. He make a theme music of Sonic&Knuckles, I arranged for GENESIS.I had a good day about 17 years ago."

Again, NOT great English, but I still got info, and that's all a language is needed for, right? :P

Yes, in the cutscene where Team Sonic is sent to the future, they can be seen for a moment or two while Eggman is talking.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. Are his eyes eerie as all hell? I couldn't even begin to imagine how Eggy's eyes look like...

It doesn't. All of Sonic's Twinkle Park runs at 30 fps. Twinkle Circuit does run at 60 fps, though.

I could swear I heard that it was the first portion of Sonic's Twinkle Park. ...Or maybe he did say Twinkle Circuit, but the video showed footage of the first part of Twinkle Park. I'll fix my post then.

I never said that that you should take the inside line, although that is true. My goal was just to make the completion of the stages as easy as possible, and using the inside walls wouldn't be as easy, but it would certainly be faster.

They're just silvery-blue in that one, if I recall. Nothing unusual about 'em, but then, there's no reason for 'em to be.

When I saw that funny pic from the Retro's main page, I remembered that I scanned these pics from my Club Nintendo magazine:
