http://spazz.nothingforfree.com/video/Mich...ksonsSonic3.avi - Thought I'd go ahead and mirror this, I'm not too worried about my domain if this gets out.

Also, seconding request for the Ice Cap/Who is It mix.

Excellent video my good friend.

I've always thought there was something special about the better tunes in Sonic 3 (Ice Cap and the like). If it's true that MJ did have some input, or even completely wrote these songs then it would make sense. My favourite tunes from Sonic 3 have actually always been Casino Night Zone and Ice Cap.

I've never come across this theory before and quite frankly, I'm amazed by it. Superb video, very well put together. The credits tune sounds almost identical in many places to MJ's 'Stranger in Moscow' that's for sure.

I've just recorded the Sonic 3 Credits Tune from Gens, and you should notice the similarity to 'Stranger in Moscow'. It's actually a nice little tune.

191%???!!! WHAT THE-

Man, you must have though of this before... And why didn't you ZIP or RAR or any-other-compressing-format the video, rather than just put the plain AVI? :P

. Have you ever seen an uncompressed AVI?

I had a 2:20 240x160 AVI that was uncompressed. 990 MB.

By the way, even though I'm still not buying the Icecap/Who Is It "similarities", it indeed looks like it's based on Smooth Criminal... So I ask for an Icecap/Smooth Criminal remix. =P

And I didn't say it before but I also think you made a great job, Qjimbo.

Well at least, there's finally something useful with that Ice Cap. ^^;

Anyway, you can make Smooth Criminal resemble to Ice Cap by speeding MJ's song up to 85% of its original duration (I mean shifting the pitch up to 15% if you prefer).
In fact, I tried to transpose it first, but it seems like the song is slightly offkey (it is between 2 and 3 semitones up).

Well, I could make audio clips but I'm too lazy by now.

BTW, congrats, QJimbo, for your documentary (and thank you for crediting and mentionning me too). I also liked your voice :P.
And it even made me realize the possible similarities between Ice Cap and Smooth Criminal (I insist on the "possible").

Has anyone noticed that the rhythm of Marble Garden might have been inspired by the beat of MJ's song "Why You Wanna Trip On Me"? It's not a perfect match; I'm just throwing this in as an idea for someone else to confirm.

Is it just me, or does one of the DAC samples used in the credits sound really similar to a sound used in 'Stranger in Moscow'?
I took the time to put together a few MP3s for comparison purposes:
1) Short Clip From Stranger In Moscow
Listen to every second 'snare' (I guess) sound. To me, it sounds strangly similar to...
2) Speed Corrected Sample from Sonic 3 Credits
Also, for your listening enjoyment :P.
3) A Mix of the two.
Maybe it's just my hearing, but those two samples sound really close. The Genesis one sounds like an extra kick drum sound was layered on top of it, and a little more distorted than the MJ-'SiM' sound.

I get what you mean, and I noticed this too. I can't say it's an exact match, but it's certainly enough to tell there was inspiration drawn from it.

OK, well I did some comparing of them, and no, the beat doesn't match perfectly, but it is pretty close. I recorded the DAC samples of the Marble Garden zone music and put it on top of the Why You Wanna Trip On Me song so you can hear the similiarity. (I did have to slow down the MGZ music a little)
Marble Garden beat comparison

Also, I noticed a VERY close similarity to the opening beat of Carnival Night Zone with that of the opening beats of Why You Wanna Tip On Me. I know CNZ is already known to be similar to parts of "Jam," and I don't know if MJ uses that same beat in any of his other music, but it's almost exactly the same. Here's a comparison.

The ending of that Marble Garden beat comparison sounds a bit Knuckles Sonic 3 Music.

I feel that you are "looking" for a connection now, and anything remotly similer will be counted as a yes. Be causious.

I just wouild like to say that QJimbo has done more than a wonderful job compiling this video... and having a sexy voice too.

And to HXC for his usuals... and throw in Shade there somewhere.

Good Job! :D

EDIT: I need to start to get involved in this topic. It actually intrigues me and wants to do something.

About the Marble Garden mix... At a first impression I got confused, because the sounds from MGz fit that perfectly in the music that looked like the same.
