Sonic 1 Megamix Update thread - © Team Megamix 2005-2008

I finally converted my hack to a split disassembly, thanks to the urging of Stealth to do so. Here's some screens so far...

Yes this is omfg perfect spindash in S1, dust and all. Thank Stealth again for that one.


Features as of now include:

- Seperate music for each act

- S2 level select and options menus edited to fit with my hack (Stealth)

- Perfect Spindash for each character (Stealth)

- 3 Characters: Sonic, Mighty and Shadow -- Each later to have thier own special move and physics stats. Thanks to Yuski for Mighty sprites and JohnnyUK for Shadow sprites.

- Sonic 2 running physics -- Run down a slope in SLZ and you'll go as fast as you do in CPZ. AKA slope related acceleration. (Stealth)

And by "Sonic 2 running physics", I assume you mean that you removed the limit on speed when when holding in the direction you're running, right? That always fucking pissed me off about Sonic 1.

I hope you're not just planning on ripping off ideas from my hack, coz if that's the case, your just not gonna hear about them. If you wanna know what I mean, I'll list them:

Save select in options menu, in the same place
Sonic, Shadow and Mighty
Wall kick for Mighty
Speed Boost for Sonic

It's when I see stuff like this that I just don't see the point in me continuing my hack. I wanted to keep some degree of originality in it at least, but now there isn't anything original left in it, except for the art.

That's the big problem. You can't own an idea by just talking about it. You better release your ROM hack with the idea, and then say he stole your ideas or whatever.

I have released the hack with all that in (minus the wall kick, but as you said yourself, it's better to wait). I never said he stole the programming, but I hate it when the one thing I'm going for - originality - all disappears. Hence, why as of now all BETA testers for my hack (and I don't care who you are) are sacked. I'll let people I trust test it for me, coz it seems there aren't a lot of people left that I do trust. Ordos and Ultima are 2 I can think of, and that's it.

Light speed dash is very hard to program. Before I did the speed boost for Sinc I tried this, but making Sonic follow ring patterns is pretty complicated. One way you could do it is to have objects which send Sonic on a set path like the tubes in MZ. The only thing with this though is that you'd have to make the rings a different object and make them adopt the Shadow The Hedgehog method, where they turn a different colour and don't give you any rings the second time around, otherwise you'd be doing a dash through no rings if you tried it again and it would look stupid.

Listen, Stealth designed that fucking layout. I had ntohgin to do with it. I wanted 3 save slots, he gave me 3 save slots. I never designed the damn thing; I wanted something similar to Sonic 1 Plus/Sonic 2 to be honest. I didn't steal any fucking programming, I coded it MYSELF. I don't know hard that is for you to believe, but whatever. I never knew you'd start accusing me of shit like you'd accuse of PC. Honestly I asked Stealth for ideas, and those are some he suggested. If it bothers you THAT much then I'll think of something else, but you need to calm the fuck down. I'm not intentionally "stealing" shit from you. If I wanted to rip off your hack I would've done it long, long ago.

And FYI, in case you forgot, this is your hack too. =O And omfg it's not Sonic 2. =O

Okay, change of plans. Due to conflicts with Stephen and his hack, Sonic's special ability will now be the Jump Dash - adopted from the flame sheild from S3K.

I just wanna say, you can hardly steal the idea for Mighty's wall kick, wasn't it in Chaotix originally?

Bound Attack ala Sonic 3's Aqua Barrier plz. I mean, it's better than a double-jump, which would be the next sensible choice.

According to your description, this is a great hack. Now finish it before New Year so we can add it to 2005's accomplishments *killed*

Also, how about some Super Sonic, while we're at it?

Yep. All you gotta do is incbin a new song after the last one, then add the new entry to the pointer list. It won't work in the original level select, but if you assign it to a level it'll be fine.
