After reading the topic of the new Gametap commerical on Adult Swim at another Sonic forum, I went and checked out the Gametap website to see what the program was all about.
Well, it turns out they have three Dreamcast games in their repository already.
Now, I realize Hydro Thunder and Mr. Driller have had PC ports, but as far as I know, Toy Commander does not. Does this signify the existance of working Dreamcast emulator? If so, what potential could be eked out of it?

Wait a second, they're releasing an unofficial translation they didn't make? Or is this new or what?

Gametap has this one "how will you die?" commercial. The way Sonic gets killed is the spike bug in Sonic 1. Nice attention to detail on their part.

It wasn't a bug, it was intentional. Wasn't it?

Yea, it was intentional. I'm saying it was nice of Gametap to use such detail.
Unless you're thinking Sega intentionally put the "spike bug" in Sonic 1. Then I'd say it was not intentional, as they corrected it in later versions.

Someone capture this (or any other of the Gametap commercials), this is amazing.

Yeah, turns out it was a careless mistake as well. Silly Sega, just like the continue sound bug in Sonic 2.

This might be a bit offtopic, but am I the only one who actually LIKES the spike bug? I mean, it actually makes spikes a harder obstacle when you can't just walk along them and keep picking up the one ring you dropped.
*thinks about implementing the "spike bug" in Tails' Adventure 2*

Can't say I've thought of it that way. It only bugs (lol pun) me when there's a pit of spikes. Sure you COULD escape, but o damn spike bug.
The thing with the "how will you die?" commercial is it doesn't SHOW Sonic die. It shows about 50 different deaths from different games. But it shows sonic get hit by the spikes and fly towards the other set. He's ABOUT to die, but they don't show it, leaving only the observant dedicated Sonic fans to get how nuts it is.
That detail is just wow.
Plus they have Dinamite Heddy shots in some other commercials. They're cool in my book, even if it's just payed emulation.

WTF has spike bug to do with Dreamcast?
Anyway, the only thing they should have fixed with the spikes would be return to debug in debug mode. Spikes is so much better than endless pits according to me. People aren't afraid of spikes anymore. In Sonic 1 spikes were as dangerous as endless pits. They were designed to be endless pits in GHZ.

I am pretty sure that spike bug is not a bug at all. It would be a simple matter to correct, and the way Sonic 1 levels are designed, I believe they were ment to kill sonic.

The best way to fix the bug is to (as I said above) fix the debug so you can repair yourself, but also to make two sets of spikes. One of them would be the pit spikes, and one the level spikes.

If that was true, why would they fix it later?
And lost - spikebug has nothing to do with Dreamcast, but with Gametap.
