The catch, apart from it being a PS3 exclusive? Download release only.

Is a two year late, download-only release a good enough reason to move the Sega Retro page to "Yakuza 5"?

As much as a year late release of Yakuza 4 is, I guess.
Oh also, the pages of Yakuza 4 and Dead Souls might need to be updated now that they just released both games on PSN in the US:

Not sure about when those will be available in Europe though. (EDIT: Oh, just after midnight apparently)

Ack; digital only? Ah well; if it's the only way I can play it , so be it.
At least it's getting localized, though I hear Sony stepped in to make it happen, and it wasn't just Sega's decision; then again, this is all I heard floating around. I don't know if this is true or not.

From SEGA's blog post about this:
Quote
We've received so many requests from our fans to bring Yakuza 5 to the U.S. and Europe. Yakuza 5 also made the top of the list of Sony's #BuidingTheList campaign led by Gio Corsi at Sony Computer Entertainment and we were moved by all the support given to Yakuza 5 by the PlayStation community.
For context: the #BuildingTheList campaign is a thing where Gio Corsi asked people on Twitter what games they'd want localized or ported to Playstation systems. So it sounds likely that it's because of Sony that this is happening, yeah.

Thank God for Sony. I can import the JP release if I ever want a hard copy for my collection down the road. So so happy about this I still can't believe it!!

Use PCSX2?
EDIT: Oh shit, from the PR contact list Sony gave away on their press site:

Looks like Yakuza Zero may be getting localized as well. Source: http://www.neogaf.co...9&postcount=689

Never played any of the games in this series but it seems to be quite popular. Glad this one is getting translated even if it is download-only.

The Japanese hate the Xbox brand - they had to persevere with it when the 360 was top dawg in the West (it'll be considered last gen-therefore of a lower priority now), but a game designed primarily with the Japanese market in mind is never going to leave camp PlayStation. Especially in these days of Xbox One.
You've got Street Fighter V showing they're not too bothered about the Microsoft machine, but here's PES 2015 not giving a damn, and you can bet there'll be others.

According to the Gio Corsi dude, Shenmue was their #1 request, but they can't go through with it due to some legal complications.
If this is to be believed, that is.

Unfortunately, digital distro seems to be a huge part of SEGA's future plans. I feel for you, Overlord.
At very least now I don't have to read people bitching about "RELEASE YAKUZA" when I read stuff from SEGA's Facebook page. Now it will likely just be Shenmue that gets that treatment.
