Hopefully it'll increase activity in the Sega Retro wiki. It might, if the wiki isn't tied to the trial membership that the Sonic Retro wiki is. Otherwise, the activity might not go up that much. Right now alot of new pages are being created, which is time consuming. That'll set up the pages for future wiki editors to expand on pages, assuming they don't have to go through trial membership, which can be tough to get.

April Foolin' aside, this was something I proposed to SS: we (at SEGAbits) would call out select games (culled from SEGA Retro) in a monthly or bi-weekly feature similar to Racketboy's Together Retro: http://www.racketboy.../together-retro

A short article would describe the game and its history, users would be directed to the info page for the game to learn more (and contribute info to it) and we'd have a community book club sort of deal where we would all play the featured game, discuss it in the forums, and then after the 2 weeks or month we'd present a follow-up article sharing select forum comments.

Maybe call it "SEGA Retro Club" or something.

Also, retro reviews can be written specifically to call out more obscure titles.

Seems to be a bit of a running joke here now, announcing things like this on April Fools Day. Sega Retro itself was announced as part of an April Fools joke, I'm sure a lot of us remember.

Still waiting on a Sega Retro forum skin, by the way.

Indeed I remember when Sega Retro was announced. I'm a horrible person as I've never looked at SEGAbits until this announcement. :\ I should check them out more often.

As an aside, SegaBits and Sega Retro are about the same age.

Interesting to think that four years ago, neither site existed, but today, one is potentially the best Sega news site on the net, and the other is potentially the best Sega database on the net. I'd say that's pretty good going.

Very good point, we noted that while talking with the Sonic Retro folks. "potentially the best Sega news site on the net"? What a nice thing to say! Thanks! Really, we just make a SEGA site that we would want to visit, and not half ass stuff (unless of course we're too busy and put it on the to-do list).
