Alright guys,I had to join in on the April Fools day fun, so I made the most boring, basic Sonic 2 hack possible. Sonic 2: Hold Right To Win Edition. There are no checkpoints, badniks, bosses or rings, and there's very few springs and loops.

Grab the rom and boot up your Sega Genesis Emulator of your choice, then simply run the .bin file in the emulator (it is a bootable rom after all) and play through the whole game.

What was that? Every level was the same; a complete straightaway with several loops and no jumping required. There were no badniks or any other objects anywhere, and Act 2 always ends in a small box-like pit with a bugged capsule.

Where's the substance and style? It was all just a hold right to win layout. Unless that was your intention with your rom.. because your trailer says otherwise.

I can't believe this April Fools joke actually fooled somebody. This is Sonic 2: Hold Right to Win Edition, as you truly imagined it. I have changed the topic's name and opening post to reflect the hack more appropriately.

I accidentally the game =[

When I got to the end of CNZ2, Tails hit the capsule and I glitched through the wall. I ended up at the boss arena, where Eggman appeared, and then the it froze XD.

I was shocked and appalled at the difficulty in this game. It's too hard. I think you need to put a warning sign before the bumper that sends you backwards in Casino Night. Oh and it needs Omochao, Omochao is my character faveriote and I did not know how to play this game.

Well, add about 2 forced jumps, and we will have Sonic Rush on Genesis! Yeah!

EDIT:
Just finished the whole thing. Ended with 31 lives. :specialed:

If it's any consolation, "Sonic 2: A New Adventure" is a real hack and was what the footage from the trailer and screenshots were from, and does have rings, platforming, badniks, monitors, alternate routes, and hidden areas. I'm trying to get that to be as good as I possibly can before I release even a demo. You can expect it to have a demo by the time of the Sonic Hacking Contest this year, though.

That was fairly amusing, especially getting to watch the parallax scrolling fly by. I was also amused by the tricks used to make the later zones passable by holding right.

Slightly deeper than the name suggests; there are some interesting tricks to be pulled off in the name of getting the highest score possible. Although there must be rings SOMEWHERE in a few levels as there were some I failed to get a perfect bonus in.

Sorry about that, some rings and other objects were hidden in obscure places. I've updated the .bin file and now you should be able to get perfects on every stage. SonLVL says each stage has 0 rings now, so there definitely shouldn't be any.

This should be a hacking contest entry, an April fools entry.

The level layouts can be enhanced to feature moving to the left upside down(and probably upside down loops too). That way the runthrough will be prolonged and a bit more fresh.
