We'd like to thank everyone who has encouraged S2HD throughout its development. Your wait is over.

www.s2hd.com

The Sonic 2 HD Alpha Release is a fan game entirely developed by TeamS2HD, and we believe our efforts and teamwork to represent the classic Sonic franchise as we, the hardcore fans, have always envisioned it to be.

We'd like to make a point of thanking Sonic Retro's admins for the great source of support they have extended to us to this point. Going forward, our future involvement with Sonic Retro will be much the same as other Sonic fangames in that we'll be updating a single thread with our project updates and information. With the game's Alpha Release, this means our involvement with Sonic Retro's Community Projects also comes to an end as, in all honesty, S2HD hasn't been a community game for a long time. In line with this, we've now closed out the topics in the Community Project subforum in favor of a single discussion thread here.

We look forward to your feedback -- enjoy!

Yes! Downloading now. Hope my old ass laptop can run it!

If it can't I'm expecting gameplay vids people!

EDIT: I am kind of sad about the official end of the "community" aspect of the game. We can still put forward great ideas, after all.

Impressions:

Well that was fun. For some reason I feel slightly underwhelmed, but that's probably just due to how long the wait was! Physics seem pretty dead on. I had a little trouble hopping off that small incline to reach the invincibility with the two 10 ring boxes guarded by a buzzbomber, but I blame my framerate for that.

Is there a way to play the second act? I saw two files for EHZ, but nothing happened once I beat the first act. And...I'm guessing the special stages aren't done yet either, huh? :v:

We're already starting to hear that the direct download links are going under. Please use the torrent links if you can.

Full screen mode doesn't take priority over applications - ObjectBar shows on top of the game, for instance, whereas other fullscreen games do not have this issue.

EDIT: Disregard, I assumed the game was running in full-screen mode by default. On that note, why *isn't* it running in full screen mode by default?

Played through it...I am pleased beyond imagination. Used the 64-bit executable, played through it smooth as butter. I'm loving the animation, the graphics, the sound, it's just incredible. I want MOAR!!!!
