It's a Sonic Retro and Sonic Stadium and whoever else we can fit on the banner (so no OL) event, where those who attend can party with bros, drink booze, and eat lots of meat because as we all know, Sonic Retro (at least) loves meat.
For those with passports and a set of balls, going to visit Chimpo's secret fortress across the border is an option.

I'm actually looking in to getting some sort of venue and lining things up properly; I just haven't had a lot of free time (and my motorcycle's being repaired so I can't really go places.)

Agreed. It would be awesome to see Retro at Sonic Boom...though I would have to take an airplane cross country. :/

I wouldn't be surprised if, eventually, a Boom East happens at NYCC.
But that's assuming Sega cares enough/finds it cost-effective to do such a move.

That, and isn't SOA's HQ in San-Fran? I don't think they have anything on the east coast, do they?

Right, but that hasn't stopped other American branches like Capcom of America from doing events on the East Coast. Mind you, they're not as frequent as their west coast events (again, cost, convenience, etc.)

Bit more of a drive than L.A. and $20?
Yeah, I'll probably end up going if there's still tickets available.

I live in San Diego and I saw this advertised on facebook a few weeks ago so I bought a ticket. I'm not even entirely sure what it's going to be.

I'd like to go to Sonic Boom, but there's no way I could afford it. Maybe I'll go in a future year.

Assuming this happens next year. You'd have to see if Sega keeps bleeding money and starts cutting more things.
For those wondering what Sonic Boom is like, here's the best way to word it: it's standing in an ambient lit room with some music playing surrounded by several hundred/thousand Sonic fans, some more hardcore and passionate (read: annoying) about their fanhood than others. Some are all right and don't really flaunt it, others are notorious deviantart whores who you want to punch in the face.
Also there's a live concert by Jun Senoue, Johnny Gioeli, and Alex Makhlouf. Your mileage may vary on your enjoyment of a Crush 40 concert as it's mostly limited to their Sonic work. It made me feel bad last year because they did have some interesting original work from Sons of Angels and then that one cover they did for their second album but everyone else was too busy throwing virgin semen over SAWNICK HEEEROOOOOES.
That's about it for Sonic Boom in a nutshell. There were some machines where you could record a video of how Sonic changed your life and wish him a happy birthday (and damn, was it awkward seeing 20-somethings gush over this), but that footage never arose anywhere. I'm going to assume it was stashed away and aired at Sonic Team board meetings for comic relief.
Of course, Retro crew was there in full force by being the "IDGAF" group who was there because we're Retro, talking to Ruby, kellie (from community, awesome girl she is) and Ken Balough. I do love Slingerland's tweet was broadcasted on their live feed in that he only showed up for the (grossly overpriced) beer.

Project:Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
Sonic Boom sounds like a blast. Here's hoping for an East Coast event in the coming years!

Just got my ticket this morning using graduation money!
Also seeing Zelda Symphony (which I already saw in SF a month and a half ago, well worth seeing again) the night before, and going to ComicCon on Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully that won't mess up any plans on meeting you guys, because hanging out with Retro last year kicked tons of ass.

+1 for east coast event. I am way too poor to travel to the other half of the States.
