Do we really have to do blue/yellow/red? I know what you're going for, but it reminds me the visual studio 2008 logo too much.

Not really, we can always use more colours, I'm open to suggestions and stuff like that. I was just using those colours because of

I didnt used green because that would make it way too "google" like.

The one on the left I'd say is near perfect. The text is just subtle enough to not be a huge distraction, and the irregularity isn't to a degree that it basically looks like a rubber band like the one on the right. I'd say it's down to this one, and the matte version of the first one.

How much longer have I got before this is going to go down to a poll vote? I don't have a good enough connection to get Gimp on this laptop in any reasonable amount of time right now.

I think that'll largely depend on if everyone can agree on one of Elratauru's designs or not. We'll give it something like a week. If more people start posting things, then I'll extend the deadline by another week for submissions, and we'll put a vote to it.

Okay, Elratauru already has everyone beat. The first 'irregular' design has my vote, for sure. The non-bevel version of his first design also works, too.

Good thing I suggested that the placement of the different colours be changed, then, eh?
Good spot!

'Think I may have solved the whole lettering issue with that first logo. Try this one:

It's overall just cleaner-looking than trying to cram the words into the mobius strip, plus gives more focus to the logo. Using pure black on the lettering here would just be taking too much attention away from the logo, IMO; it's good to balance it out.
For fun, I tilted the logo to look more like the classic Chaos Emerald, and the arrow inside the strip is now pointing to the name of the engine. Then I recolored the O to resemble a ring.
I know that, now that I've tilted the logo, the shading might be off on it, but if you still have the original image file for editing (.PSD?), that's possibly an easy fix. Anyhow, do ya like it?

So, a thought apart from the abstracts-
What about a literal engine (heavily stylized) driving a belt shaped like a Mobiüs strip?
I'll get a shitty mockup together later; probably keep the color scheme for the belt, with a grey for the engine.

I have been playing a while with some art-deco inspired logos this weekend on my girl's house btw,

Not really inspired by mobius stripes, but I feel it has that Sonic Vibe, colors not implemented, as always I start with B&W versions and then "upgrade" them.

The lettering here looks alright. A bit rough around the edges, but otherwise alright (the Ns, for example, stand out a little bit too much for comfort, and the spacing on the O looks a bit odd). Though I'm still pretty sold on the Visual Studio style logo, and the thinner matte version of the original logo.

I agree with Gen here. I think the reason the spacing around the O looks odd is because of the funny Ns. Both 'Mobius' and 'Engine' are both 6 letters long, but the Ns in particular are forcing the text of Mobius out of alignment.
I'm definitely liking it tilted like that; it gives it a more logo-type feel to it, rather than an upside down arrowless colourful recycle sign.

I'd still have the blue in the most prominent location, I.e. leftmost in this new one—but maybe it's just me. I certainly can't claim to be design-minded at all, so make of that what you will.
