Am I the only one who doesn't see how having Bubbles chains has anything to do with a lack of momentum? Also, in that video, I'm pretty sure Sonic wasn't curled up when he was going off the ramp, so there technically wasn't any "uncurling". Plus, earlier videos have already established the fact that he indeed stays rolled up if he happens to go off a ramp while spinning down a hill.
Bubble chains have a lack of momentum because of the homing attack just zipping Sonic to where he needs to go. They are also annoying because it isn't good level design. Its a very lazy way for Dimps to create other alternate paths. Or worse, if the chain of Bubbles are over a bottomless pit, forcing Sonic to use his homing attack to go somewhere.

So I decided to play Sonic 4 Episode 1 after not playing it since before Sonic Generations.
IT'S EVEN WORSE NOW, not only am I not happy with the physics, but the level design just outright fucking sucks and the music is soo crappy! Playing this AFTER Generations just made it feel all the more worse for me.
Project:Playing Mass Effect 3 U, anyone up for some online?

No, it takes a lot of skill to bounce off a chain of enemies without slowing yourself down by using the actual homing attack. This skill and timing is imperative for the best times on leaderboards and time attack.

CRISIS AVERTED.
Oh wow I never knew you could do that. I'll have to try that next time I play Episode 1.
Regardless of whether it's possible to 'recurl' or not, Sonic just shouldn't uncurl full-stop.
Some of the finest moments in Sonic were the parts where you flew into a half-pipe or slope, hit the vertical ramp and just fly for ages before bouncing off an enemy then getting launched right back up in the air. Death Egg Zone had a lot of this, and it was so goddamn satisfying.
Scared? That's determination! The fierce look of an enemy that pierces the heavens and our internal emotions. The same experience you get from installing your first game! It's so colossal that it may very well break the very fabric of reality!
