Yeah, I just tested the cart on it's own, didn't worry about the cd
Try one of the Sonic games or something. You know, a cartridge that doesn't have anything weird on it (this also means no flashcarts). If that doesn't work then there are connection issues (either the module isn't properly in place or the cartslot is damaged).

EDIT: and the firmware should not be kicking in so the region shouldn't matter other than the usual (I.e. games with built-in region lock-out).

Nevermind, it turns out I was putting the carts in wrong. Label faces down, not up.

If I want to play ecco cd, what would be the best easiest thing to do? Download ecco cd iso for the us sega cd and modify the region header? Or does ecco the dolphin cd for japan have english text?

Sega-related laserdisc stuff. Not games, but still interesting

look what I just missed on ebay. (Although not sure I would have committed to an $800+ price tag)

Holy... Just how many different titles does a game need?

EDIT: Not to mention the different soundtracks.

I'm hoping the LaserActive LDs get preserved well.

Cool, nemmie is still kicking around. I'm going to have to chase him up about this laseractive stuff, I'll have a couple of games he can dump once he's got it all sorted out, and maybe he can help out with replacing those capacitors everyone keeps talking about. I'll be in Sydney in 2 weeks, might have to chase him up then.

I think I might have just secured the Road Prosecutor game from the seller I mentioned above. I swooped in with a last minute bid and payment in an off ebay auction. Might come back to bite me without the whole ebay buyer protection stuff, but I'm cautiously optimistic. It was an obscene amount of money though, but I'm cashing in some annual leave next week.
