That's assuming Sega would want to take the risk of a Sonic 5, after all the craziness that Sonic 4 has been.

Unless of course you just mean another 2D Downloadable title and not necessarily titled "Sonic 5". Which I would be more than happy with, given the improvements Ep2 had over Ep1.

Well, thing is Sonic 4 already happened now so what's the difference if they wanted to make something called Sonic 5? At this point, it's no longer a dream, it's just a name, since 4 already happened. Plus, an unveiling of Sonic 5 would be no where near as dramatic as Sonic 4, since one would be a couple years after, not 16 years after the game many consider their favorite Sonic game of all time. But this isn't the topic about that, this is about Generations.

So I'll say something on topic. I love this soundtrack to death. Many of the songs in my iTunes top 50 playlist are from this game. Personal favorites include Sky Sanctuary Modern, Green Hill Modern, Crisis City Modern and Classic, Death Egg Robot, and of course, vs. Metal Sonic. What do you guys like?

Rooftop Run Act 2, both Crisis Cities, City Escape Act 2, Speed Highway Act 2, the End Medley (ver. 1; the console version), Casino Night Act 2, Water Palace Act 2 and the Special Stage music. Wow, I really like Act 2 music :) I never realized that.

I love the soundtrack as well, it's just amazing. There's barely anything in there that I don't like. My personal favourite has to be Big Arm though - the original version in Sonic 3 & Knuckles is one of my all-time favourite boss themes and the new version in Generations is even better. It kinda makes me wish they'd used the Death Egg robot from Sonic 3 & Knuckles in the game, that boss is the first thing I think of every time I hear the Big Arm music.

Both versions of Sky Sanctuary are just wonderful as well :)

Sky Sanctuary Modern is my absolute favourite song of the game, it takes the original tune and runs with it, with a driving beat to help keep it fast-paced. The original was never my favourite song, it felt to loose and floaty, and while it suited the stage perfectly, I was not a big fan of it. This corrects it entirely in my humble opinion.

Tis why I love Sonic Generations so (among many reasons).

If we're talking about the Soundtrack, I can't compliment it enough, the amount of effort put into it really shows and it just makes it all the more better and really, I was amazed at how well they treated the classics, as already pointed out, Sky Sanctuary got one hell of a boost in Modern and the way both Green Hill and Sky Sanctuary then got Fast Mixes on top of that, and of course Stardust Speedway Bad Future, criminal how they left that Radio Build Up Intro off the soundtrack version, honestly that entire cutscene where Metal Sonic blasts the track and Sonic starts falling and then just BAM, a Drum and Bass style kicks in as Sonic starts jumping off the falling platforms to get himself back on the track just made me want to shout "F**K YEAH!", sure it was different from the original but that's why a lot of Generations is good, they were willing to actually add new things to old tracks and do a good job of it, such as Death Egg Robo getting more intense as the fight goes on or the solo in the Big Arms battle.

Hey guys, I just realised something.

Whatever happened to those dance animations that were found in the demo? they didn't appear to be in the game at all, unless I'm mistaken.

Weren't they basically cut versions of the level complete animations?

Things like Classic Sonic conducting with his finger weren't used at all.

They are still left over references in the EXE like I said previously, they were to be used in the BGM sound test of it. BGMRock, BGMDance and so on are listed in there.

That's not surprising considering the nature of them, and that Generations is fairly bare bones. All the gameplay is there, there's just not a lot of it and other things are lacking greatly. Shame it was cut.

According to The Cutting Room Floor, the Orange Rocket and Pink Spike Wisps were at some point planned to also be an unlockable skill for any level, but were scrapped as such. It's a shame really, as I can imagine people having a lot of fun with those Wisps outside of Planet Wisp. :(

I also second the notion of not only having those dancing and sound test-esque animations used for music playback, but also having a full music list that's playable in game outside of playing the levels, instead of just having the unlockable music tracks.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed and still do enjoy Sonic Generations, but I wouldn't have minded and actually would have preferred it if SEGA/Sonic Team delayed the game for a short while to polish it up just that little bit more. They delayed Sonic 4 Episode I, so I don't see why they couldn't have liaised internally or whatever for a slightly later release date for Sonic Generations as well.

In the end though, when push comes to shove, what matters is that the gameplay is very well balanced and thought out. The music is fantastic, and it all looks visually stunning and highly detailed. Overall, it's a very enjoyable and replayable experience, and for that I applaud everyone involved with the game's development. One of the best Sonic games ever published in my opinion, and it sits very closely to Sonic 3 & Knuckles in my list of favourite Sonic games.

Did anyone know that if you press B (and I'm guessing Circle on the PS3) while on a rail, Sonic does a little spin, akin to Heroes? I was speedrunning playing Speed Highway Act 2, slipped up and inadvertently discovered this.

Yep, the useless crouch feature is still intact for whatever reason. I noticed it too, yet it doesn't really do anything.

I'm curious though, why did they decide to get rid of the crawl and kick attacks from Unleashed?

Because the boost, slide and jumping/homing attack are just more effective in the long run?
