I believe it's because you're skills are so high, that makes up for having a fan character in this hack...XP
Plus you...kind of did show him off in the Screenshot thread a while ago, if I'm right. XD

I cannot say what others haven't already said. So I'll repeat! This is amazing! Good work, MarkeyJester!

Although I found the boss incredibly easy. :P Got hit once in the beginning and did the rest of the fight with no rings first try.

    MIDI-to-SMPS-conversions, mostly. Takin' requests, too.
Holy shit have I been blown away just now. @.@

This is amazing. As others mentioned, the title screen, the music, the EXTREMELY fluid animations (best change of frame-wait-time ever : D ), the level-design, the boss fight, the ball thingy, everything.
I almost managed to get through without loosing a life, but then I messed up on the boss. :c

One small bug I noticed -- the first time around, I waited on the title-screen to see just how far Pana would fall. : P Well, anyway, demo-mode started (which surprised me in that there's a separate demo that's working : D ) and I skipped it, wanting to see the level for myself. When I got back to the title screen after skipping everything, though, the cloud-tiles in the background were all sorts of mixed up. D:

Very impressive. The only thing missing was sprite scaling, and a multi segmented sprite boss battle. Animation and rotation effects are excellent as well.

My only complaint is some poor dithering in the background but aside from that, good work.

It also took forever! It's like I'm really playing a post-SOTN Castlevania game here!

That was AMAZING. Any plans to expand upon this? I'd love to see a full game made out of it.

That was incredible! I just wish it were longer.

Also, where are the DAC samples from?

Impressive alternative take on Sonic 1, I have to say. That ball rolling mechanic is pretty fun, shame they never used it.

One of the best hacks I've seen in a long time. Great work as always, Markey!

The titlescreen alone is pretty damn impressive looking. I can't recall offhand any official games doing anything cool like that, really makes the system not feel like it's just the same old Genesis.

Played this and thought it was pretty fun - particularly liked the Boss making use of the giant ball mechanic. = ) Looked very nice, too!

Unfortunately it won't be continued, or at least not by me, I got a job recently and start on the 12th so I fear I won't have time for half the projects I'm working on, this is why Pana is only a month or two old and why the boss was somewhat basic.

If I find the right person for the job, however, I may pass it on to them to continue it, but there's no guarantee that I will pass it on or that it'll turn out the way you'll enjoy it if it progresses. Sorry.

Believe it or not it's actually from Sonic Adventure!

Or at least that's as I understand it.

Top notch quality as always. The only complain is that it's too short, everything else just kicks ass. Keep on breaking the limits of the Mega Drive :P.
The sprites look better than the originals. Also, I want my silver winter rings back :P (Ironically the hack I made with those also had recolor fan characters, but it sucked).

Also, the name is also a pun with batteries included :P.

I just tried it and have to agree: this hack is awesome. Wonderful job you did there.

Title card doesn't completely clear, leaving behind a glitchy mess.

    Otherwise, excellent work!

This is absolutely beautiful! I like everything about it, but the HUD is especially cool, too.

I didn't have any trouble regathering rings in the boss fight, either.

Not where I want to be.
Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
Is the title in any particular language? Or is it just derp-speak?

Besides that, this is an impressive technological achievement. I'd like to see the smoother animations and such applied to vanilla Sonic 1. 2 and 3&K also, if at all possible.

  20. It's projects like this that I keep coming back to Retro for.

    Great work as ever, Markey!
