I'm in! Excited to meet Sonic Retro people! I don't believe I've ever met any of you so this will be exciting. Will there be details on a meetup/hotel stuff soon, or will there not be one?

Where are you all booking to stay? Trying to get a rough estimate and distance from LAX.
I'm going with offers from Expedia, which are in the $1K range minimum (including hotel/rental/plane for two). Hearing any recommendations for hotels (or just districts to stay in) in the area would help from locals.

If you stay in Burbank, Glendale or Culver City, you'll have to drive about 15-20 minutes down Interstate-5 to get to the show, but the hotel rates are generally cheaper.
My recommendation is to try to book the Holiday Inn Burbank through a travel website. Not only will you be, like, 10 blocks from my apartment, but you'll be in the heart of a nice downtown district. Other, cheaper options include the Safari Inn and the Portofino Inn (both on West Olive Avenue). In Glendale, the Days Inn and Golden Key Inn can both easily cost you under $90. If you do Culver City, do the Ramada Inn.
When I used to not live here and stay in hotels for gigs, I never stayed downtown, as it sucks. You're stuck down there since traffic is always bad.

The only way I was even thinking of getting around was bus/train. People will be driving?

I've got friends there saying you're boned no matter which way, as public transportation is horrible, but to get the car because you can drive places outside of the city.

I may have an acquantiance in Culver City who I could stay with. He lives with me right now but he's moving to LA soon. He may not move by June 8 though.
EDIT: Oh crap, I thought about staying a few extra days before or after the event, but I just realized I have a concert I want to attend on June 7, eliminating the "before" possibility. (and also the cheaper Greyhound option, ensuring I'll be flying the morning of the 8th) There's some things that'd prevent an "after" so that's going to be a concern. Either way I'm going to be there and it's done.

Well I'm out. Funny part is I'll be heading to LA a month or so later anyway. Maybe next time.

RETRO PRE-EVENT PARTY
I don't want to plaster this on the front page yet because we may jigger things around depending on how everyone's schedule looks, but we're looking right now at doing a pre-Sonic Boom party at Blipsy Barcade, which is a few miles north of Club Nokia. Any interest?
