Back in the advertising thread, I pointed out that Sik found a link with a bunch of American MD/MCD ads, as well as ssome ads for presumably unreleased games: (was the SNES one released?) (Released on 3DO) Anyone know anything about any of these?
There was a prototype of the SNES version of Socks the Cat. That DreamTR guy had it... but I think it was sold on. But when you're presented with a massive lost of prototypes it's understandable that the community might not prioritise that one. IIRC it was pretty much done. As in, ready to sell.
I started making a page to catalogue this information, but it's far from complete =P Also can someone dig up that "Hardcore" video?
let's get South Korea out of the way http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/korea/spe...pecial-lost.htm City Heroes for the Mega Drive (scroll down). A Streets of Rage clone which was apparently really good http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/korea/spe...ecial-lost2.htm Halloween Capsule, Power Ball AD2001, "Amegedon" Project
Ugh, unseen64 is really fucking good at hiding their magazine sources with super crop scans I can look in the meantime, but now I'm just asking if you have the name of something unreleased based on a magazine scan, could you provide the name of the magazine and the issue (date or #)? Thanks. Actually no, I'm certain unseen64 deliberately avoids citing sources.
Quick question: was Sonic-16 ever actually developed to a point or was the video just a concept video? I can't tell anymore >:| Also what proof is there that the Sonic 3C ROMs drx released are prototypes of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Limited Edition other than their descriptions match?
Sonic-16 is that SatAM based game, right? It was just an animation demo done on an Amiga, no game engine or anything was ever developed from what I remember.
Ok, thanks. Does anyone else know for sure if it was actually developed? Anyway now I need help identifying magazine sources so I can add these to the list... Bounty Hunter Smaartvark Pinky Aspect Warriors Rocket Rescue Interplanetary Lizards Dando Moon Dancer Battle Mission Land Buster Finally, can someone confirm if Fun Car Rally, Baby's Day Out, Baby Boom, Jelly Boy, Ninja Gaiden, Waterworld, and WildSnake (and there are more... /me headache) are real prototypes and not pirate ports like Command & Conquer is or pirate games in general? Thanks.
Fun Car Rally looks more like an unlicensed game to me. Doesn't seem finished (menus don't work right) though I'd say it's close, all levels seem to be finished (unless more than 16 were planned, but that's still more than enough tracks anyways). Baby Boom was in those back-ups drx released in 2008, so I suppose that's a proper prototype =P Jelly Boy... well, I think it's pretty obvious it's legit, especially taking into account those splash screens when it starts, with just the credits ending cutscene being broken (scrolling isn't finished). And if it's a pirate game, then whoever made it did a very good job because it plays better than its SNES counterpart =| I believe Wild Snake is also legit and not some pirate, given that the game wasn't released yet it was announced. I doubt some pirate would make a copy of something that doesn't exist >_>
drx seems sure the Sonic 3c protos are Sonic 3 Complete. His word is the reason they are labeled Sonic 3 Complete protos. Ask him if you are still unsure.
Ok new question. What is the source of the following prototype ROMs? Baby's Day Out Barbie Vacation Adventure The Chaos Engine 2 Congo — especially this one; it sounds like a pirate or something Davis Cup II Dominus DynoBlaze — this one appears to not be circulating but was put up on the Internet; EDIT below Fido Dido Flash Point Fun Car Rally — especially this one; it sounds like a pirate (as Sik said) or something The Itchy and Scratchy Game Jelly Boy Jim Power: The Arcade Game Might and Magic III: Isles of Terra Ninja Gaiden ResQ Scrabble Tecmo Cup Wacky Races Waterworld Wild Snake/WildSnake The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles Zombie High DynoBlaze "prototype" ROM thanks to Phugolz for sending it to me: http://idisk.mac.com/pietro10-Public/dynoblaze.bin
I remember someone even saying Jelly Boy came free with an MD clone they bought back in the 90's in Brazil I think. And that place is loaded with pirates. Fido Dido is also another prototype that was pirated, but who knows if that was after pirates found it dumped on a newgroup or something. I have a hard time believing piraters are the ones who stole an elusive prototype from a company though.
Not sure if this will help... Phugolz sent me a few old nfo files from before 2000 or so and this is what I found in them: Code (Text): SNK-BABY.LZH P 462012 02-25-95 !eNf_______________________ ________/\_____ __\ _______/_ _ \__\ / / /_______ / / / ___/ /. / // / // / \_ /_____________/____ /_____/______/\______/ ------------------\/-----------------------> Baby's Day Out !Beta! from Hi-Tech! <-( 08mb/Smd )--------------------( Sega! )- [-----------------------------( sHAMEN )---] << DOUBLE CREDITS >>BK --- DOMINUS.LZH N 599391 07-13-94 DOMINIUS *PREVIEW* SEGA/SMD/6MBITS --- MOB-FIDO.LZH N 486808 12-06-93 _/\_____/\___/\____/\_____/\_ .------\ \ / /__ \___ \ / /-----. |:.*.:./ /\_ / / / /__/ /..:.o.| | o.:_/ / / / / / / / / /..+..: | |:.:+\_____/__/__/ /_____/__/ / M.O.B.:| `----------------\_/---------\_/---------' FiDo DiDo from Kaneko [ 8mbit\smd\sega ! ] --- DNX-FCTR.LZH N 12825 08-07-93 _______ ___ ____ _____ __ _________ ____ \___ \ \/ /\| _// | \/ _/ | \/ / | |\ \ _/ |/ _/| | | |\ \ / | |/ \ | \ _/ \_ | \/ | |/ / \_ |______/ |__|\_\____|___| ||__|__/ /\___/ +----|___|--PRESENTS---|___|-----\___/-----+ | FUN CAR RALLY - TRAINER - [SEGA/8MB/SMD] | +------------------------------------------+ --- NPM-ITCH.LZH P 556608 02-21-95 _______ /\ _______ /\ _____ ___ ___. .-\___ \/ \-\___ \ \/ /__| \/ | | / / \ ____/ \ / | \/ | |__/ /______\ |/______\______|___|| | <-/____/÷e÷---`----'Presents-----------`---' -------------------------------------------- ITCHY AND SCRATCHY -[By Acclaim]-----------------[SEGA/SMD/8M]- << DOUBLE CREDITS >>BK --- FNL-JBOY.LHA P 632885 04-19-95 .______/\ FINALISTS ./\ /°\ |. \/___ ._./ \ ._. |_/_____/ ° \_____ || ____/| \| | \ | | | | __¸/ \/\ \__,/ ¦: __/| ¦ ° ¸| OS \| | | ¦ \__\__.__/\__ |· | | | : | E \ | | |, _ \ | , _ \ | | | | ¡ | : G \l_| | \/ / | \/ / `--' '-'---'--' / \ A \__}'\__/ | \__/ .-------------p^r^e^s^e^n^t^s--------------. | JELLY BOY [Electronic Arts] | | »8mbits»smd»sega»fiNAL« | | ...always READ.NFO finals... | DOUBLE CREDITS <BoSS-NuKE --- PDY-JPOW.LZH N 591725 09-05-93 Jim Power! - Final Beta! - [Sega/Smd/8Mbits] --- NJGAIDEN.LZH N 432184 08-08-92 Ninja Gaiden Not sure if this says anything about the current dumps... but that might make a bunch of stuff untraceable :| Should I try asking on Sega-16?

I was too lazy to eve look through this thread but I had a feeling it was someone on this forum that said that :x I don't really think Sega-16 will know anything, the majority of people there don't even seem to care for ROMs so I doubt they know about prehistoric releases =P
