What I found interesting is that the music when boosting changes the percussion track to be more upbeat instead of using a phaser effect like in previous games. The transition between both drum beats is really awkward, though. They should probably not bother changing the music at all when boosting.

It's in the trailer, yes, but Ruby has said that he tested it out and it didn't uncurl for him.

I think what's happening is when C.Sonic starts to slow down in ball form too much he goes into an uncurled state, because at the end of C.Sonic's stage he uncurls in the mobius strip.

I think that while rolling for a bit of time coupled with the fact that the hill was slowing him down some caused him to uncurl. however, going fast enough should cause him to stay in ball form.

I'd like to stress on what LOst said about C.Sonic's gameplay that not a lot of people seem to be understanding: The game will not have true "Classic Sonic" physics. It's just impossible because of the fact that the game is using the Unleashed/Colors engine and that this game will be using the physics system in it. The programmers will have to get as close to "Classic Sonic' physics as they can but they will not be able to match it 1:1 no matter how hard they try.

As well as uncurling, I saw something that looked a bit like forced running (surely not a booster?!!!) just after a spindash charged before a loop in the classic segment. The graphics look quite nice though.

Yeah, all of my fears for this game have peen proved false, this makes me very happy.

And to update my desktop (and because there is no desktop quality Generations stuff on the Internet that I could find) I whipped up this:

Not simple, a bit cluttered, but it'll do for me.

It's gonna take me awhile to get used to Classic's remix of Green Hill. There's just something... off about it.

I just had a thought on music for Sonic CD levels. Are they going to use the original soundtrack or the US soundtrack? I really hope it's the former, because they honestly had no problem with it used in ASR, right? So-called "copyright issues" are bullcrap.

Oh yeah, I wonder if he actually takes part in the game. And on the subject of the end-post, I love the way it is animated after it spins, that's a lovely touch.

Even if it's just Unleashed in Green Hill Zone I think I will enjoy it all the same as an alternative to what looks more like some core platforming. And this fish scene did a fantastic job at getting me pumped, even though I wasn't playing. XD

Ok, normally I don't post in a megathread, but I really want to get my thoughts out on the gameplay I saw just now. Because to be honest, I haven't been this excited for a Sonic game since Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors. Sue me, I'm a fan of the boost-like-crazy Modern Sonic way of doing things, but I'm also a fan of the fast platforming Classic Sonic way as well, and this looks to be the best of both worlds. I'm glad I got a PS3 last year so I can take advantage of this lovely anti-thesis to Sonic 06 when it comes out.

Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
We haven't seen the end of a M.Sonic level yet, but I don't think so.

Hey, better than mine, nice job!

His end-post is most likely any random object like a treasure chest like it was in another game... (can't remember now), or just a giant ring.

On my butt in front of the computer. Where else?
I'm working on working up the willpower to work on learning how to make my own Sonic fangames. Not quite there yet.
Isn't that kind of like saying "I haven't seen a sunrise since yesterday morning? =/

The gameplay video looks cool, although it's not much beyond what we've already seen. Loving the soundtrack, nice remixes and all that. Modern Sonic's version of Green Hill seems a good example of how straightforward and automated the Unleashed style is at its absolute simplest, though—I hope future levels are more tolerable in that regard. Also seems to be backpedeling to Unleashed's memorization-based 2D speed sections rather than platformy 2D areas like Colors had, but I suppose Classic Sonic has the platforming covered.

Now this is going to make me sound like a retrofag elitist prick, but after watching that extended gameplay footage, this is what went on in my head:

"Awesome! Loops! Monitors! Spinning! Actual Physics!"

    Then...

"Awesome! Running in a straight line for seven hours, then going into a 2d section that looks like it was made in a SSBB Stage builder without any of the physics that were shown in the classics to be seen-- wait, FUCK."

The Modern Sonic gameplay in this looks so fucking linear. Even compared to Unleashed and Colours it feels lazy. I mean, Sonic Colours was far more open than a straight track with a metre width between fences.

I know I'm still going to enjoy it, but it seems like they hand us some fucking awesome gameplay on a silver platter, then take it away and give us running in Straight Line Zone Act 37. Adventure gameplay would be better suited, TBH, but I'm still going to enjoy both parts of this game. I just hope Modern Sonic's levels are more open than what we saw in Green Hill.

I reckon it will be a sign post, considering he is entirely back in time, and sonic didn't bring back a bunch of giant rings with stars in and through them everywhere.
