Wow.....my partner would kill me if I bought an Xbox 360 just for this game. I still find it a bit funny that Colors is represented in this game, although it came out for the Wii just last year. What a slap in the face that this isn't available on the Wii (I'm sure this is a big reason why it's coming out for PC).

Breezing through the last few pages I conclude that the Time Eater is either the rabbit everyone forgot about or the Ghost of Gerald Robotnik. I've heard that it could be Mephelies from 2006, but I never played it so I'm not too familiar with that thing that pretended to be a hedgehog.

After watching the video, it was nice to see the correct conclusion to the Hydrocity argument. More importantly I wish they weren't talking so I could clearly hear how great the Seaside Hill/Ocean Palace remix is! They did a fantastic job meshing together elements from different games into these levels. They finally proved that with effort, it's possible to blow our minds again. Hidden Palace in Sky Sanctuary?....I didn't expect any less!

I love how everybody loves this Cash Cash guy for coming up with the Endless Mine/City Escape remix even though our own N00neimp0rtant beat em by a year and a half. Note Cash Cash nor anyone at Sega credits him.

That sounds like hot diarrhea spread on a biscuit.

The idea that the Time Eater might share some connection with Solaris or Mephiles makes sense, as Solaris's whole thing was that it was devouring time. Mephiles himself was really little more than a dark ooze/cloud/thing that took on the likeness of Shadow when it merged... with his shadow. The issue with this is that the glimpses we have of the Time Eater so far bear no resemblance to Iblis, Mephiles, or either form of Solaris, and the clockwork thing going on in the background suggests something a little less "serious business" than any of them.

If the Time Eater is a direct result of the colossal, paradoxical mindscrew that is '06's time-travel plot, however, I will laugh. And laugh. And laugh.

I love how you assume that N00neimp0rtant needs to be credited for that ear-rape. Maybe it's because of the speedup to fit into ten minutes, but it doesn't sound very good to me. Sure, I've heard worse mashups, but also much better ones.
Seriously, I think this is a coincidence. Unless the Cash Cash guy says differently, I believe he came up with the idea on his own. History is full of examples of different people inventing nearly the same things at roughly the same time completely independent from each other.

Probably because it's just a total coincidence? The themes aren't even incorporated in nearly the same way.

EDIT: Wow, it seems that everybody jumped on this comment. I guess I should've checked.

Well, if it weren't for the spindash hotkey, I'd say that's one of the situations where a few boosters are really just a little bit of a godsend. If you had to build up speed in such sections, then if you stumbled to a halt at the wrong moment, it might be impossible to build up speed in time to avoid certain death. Those stones DO roll after you pretty fast. A few boosters here and there might mitigate that.

But the "press to go ZOOM!" spindash hotkey kinda blows that argument out of the water at this point.

The reason the boosters seem so out of place to me is because the chase scene with the wheel instantly reminded me of Hydrocity Act 2 where that wall is chasing you. There were no speed boosters. The one spring I can remember actually shot you back. You had to get through that shit on your own, and that made it that much more intense.

About the little MegaDrive statue above GHZ: Isn't it possible that every zone has a little tribute to the original console it was featured on above the entrance?

It'd be neat if they had little "demos" of the level from the original game, in a way, let people compare the original to the remake in-game.

Yeah, I with they made that sort of case again (they did in Sonic 4 though), I love them because they give you an 'Oh SHIT, OH SHIT' heartbeat.

^Possibly. We don't know, all we know is that there is a genesis emulator and that's likely the entrance for it.

Ok there is only one thing about this game that bugs me and it's the exclusion of other classic characters beyond Sonic, Tails, Metal Sonic, and possibly Robotnik. Every level that they've chosen from the genesis era had something to do with classic Amy, Knuckles, and Robotnik. Metal Sonic race, you go and save classic Amy from Robotnik, it's your prize for winning the race. Sky Sanctuary, Knuckles runs across the bridge and presses the button for you, also it's from a game called "Sonic & Knuckles." And with the Death Egg Robot why didn't they have Sonic chasing Robotnik through the corridor? They could have easily thrown him in there. Chaotix however I could care less about, but it'd still be cool to see them in class form. Regardless my point is there are 9 supporting characters, 6 of them had classic incarnations, 3 of which were important, and we only get to see Classic Tails. Hell if they really wanted to go above and beyond they could have made up classic incarnations for Rouge, Cream, and Blaze (funny how the modern girl characters in this game don't have classic versions). That'd have been interesting.

As I've expressed through this thread, I love this game. I love the idea, the execution, pretty much everything. This is the one thing that kind of ticks me off. Not in a huge way, but still. I mean I understand that Modern Sonic has been present for 12/20 years, and as such there is more of him, but it'd have been a nice nod to those of us who have been here since the classic days. Classic Sonic and Tails look awesome. I bet they could have done wonders with Amy and Knuckles. I mean, looking at Modern and Classic Tails side by side, I now realize that Modern Tails really looks quite Derp with his mouth open. Classic Tails does not.

On a positive note though, damn have they done some serious work with Sky Sanctuary. Modern Sky Sanctuary is all over the place. It's almost the perfect modern Sonic level. And Seaside hill looks quite interesting. Good work Sonic Team.

I'm really impressed that they're incorporating a lot of the classic level design elements into the modern levels. I noticed the high ground vs. low ground a lot in Sky Sanctuary especially, and it was very refreshing.

I don't give a fuck how he pronounced it. It's a goddamn city. Hydro. City. :argh:

That aside...I love it. I mean, that's not really much to say but I'm loving this so much. I'm so goddamn excited.

And I don't give a fuck if Hydro City is the way to pronounce it (Apparently that is the correct pronunciation) it'll always be Hydrosity to me. Similar as to the whole Reese's Pieces thing. Pieces or piecies? Obviously one is correct, but who the hell cares I'm calling it the incorrect later pronunciation.

It says pieces on the packet though. But now this irrelevant.

It all depends on how you pronounce Reese's. You make one match the other. The "Reesees" pronounciation is also wrong but it's fun to do anything. But irrelevant is irrelevant.

So how many more days we got left til this comes out? like 19 days? fucking awesome.
