Stuff's going pretty smoothly. Need to finish TV act 2, Bubsy, Titan Tails, and the intro, good ending, and chaotic neutral ending cutscenes. That and some voice acting, secret bonus features + technical stuff.
and now I'm dreaming of a Classic Sonic game collaboration between Hez, Sonica and Falk (Gameplay, Art and Music). Oh man, one can only dream, huh?
Haha y'know I'd be totally up for that, never really worked with a team before. (S2HD was a lil' different at the time). Doubt it'd ever happen though. :o
Kudos for giving the background some much-needed touching up over the original pixellated version. xD While I wouldn't mind graphics like this, I think another Sonic 1 remake would be a somewhat risky move. You'd probably get the attention you deserved if you somehow reworked the tileset into a remake of Turquoise Hill from Sonic Chaos or Great Turquoise from Triple Trouble. Of course, it all depends on what your motivation is; If you're just remaking Sonic 1 because you can, then by all means.
I have barely played all those 8-bit games, manly because of how floaty and annoying to play they feel (let alone the rubbish graphics :o but that's a stupid reason). It may not be the best choice, but it's my fav! Maybe I can make Sonic 1 a little better and different for those who don't want to play another remake...? Who knows. Already got some nice little things going on, like rustling trees and plants, enhanced background parallax, visually this will be an enhanced masterpeice! But I'd also like to (when I get to that stage) add some new gameplay elements in too, maybe like Generations did with it's challenges for each stage, and other things, like acts and zones blending together as one long game...
The gameplay was surprisingly good for the 8-bit Sonic titles, even if it was very lacking compared to the 16-bit games. What stands out is that the aesthetics are present; the environments, music and style are just as beautiful as the 16-bit games. This is why they're so badly needing a remake, because of how limited the graphics and gameplay were in offset to the beauty and potential trapped in the games.
Oh yeah, they are great for bringing all that to 8-bit, I was impressed when I did play them! But overall I just don't like 'em :8 Though... I may consider throwing an 8-bit level or two in, for maybe a challenge, and to make you guys a little happier. but no I couldn't stand remaking an entire 8-bit game.
Oh god this is still a thing? Awww yesss. I got nothing to show for now. Just a whole bunch of level design ideas and some implementation in worlds to see if it works how I want it. I don't think anyone is interested in that though.
An update on my Digimon platformer, now that I have a slight reprieve from uni assignments: Renamon is more or less fully functional (though the lack of a unified animation base makes it harder to properly animate her right), and I've also implemented a character select similar to Battle Spirit (the thing in the middle is supposed to flicker). It should be easy to implement other characters, the arduous part is getting all the individual sprite images ready. Also, I added a border much like in the GBA version of Battle Spirit, which I think is a neat touch. It can be resized, too, which is handy.
Sonic 1 Awesome Pixel Art Edition (not actual name) is looking good so far. And it's widescreen (or, at least, it will be properly, eventually)! A screenshot this time. Here's the art rammed quickly into a crappy Sonic engine for you to play if you are interested The trees rustle as you jump through them, and the background is 3D+Animated there too! You can also see more of Sonic's animations.
Oh, well I could repload it sometime perhaps, it was playable previously. Edit: Dynamic water! - With particle splashing. Little changes like this'll make this so much more enjoyable. Even for me!
This is the shit I was talking about. You don't need to show us EVERY SINGLE NEW THING YOU DO. Seriously, it's way cool you added water. Looks great, but if I seriously bumped my topic with every little new thing I added, it would be ridiculous. Just work on your project, and update the progress when you've accumulated some actual work. HEY GUYS LOOK I ADDED DARK PARTS TO THE LEVEL HEY GUYS LOOK I ADDED A GIMMICK! HEY GUYS LOOK I CHANGED THE COLOR OF THE TELEPORT SHIELD TO LOOK MORE LIKE THAT POPULAR GAME THATS ORANGE AND BLUE ...I also realize I'm kind of being a dick.
That's the point I was trying to get across, if I showed you everything....nothing would be a surprise! Besides, the demo's coming out in about a month so you should be able to hold your horse until then.
After I bashed you...you complimented me... a bigger man you be :3 I still wish you'd do art for me :v:
