Ah, its good to see Eggman be the boss again and not be some side story in some echidna lovestory that a crazy ass writer was jerking off to while writing it.

Love Eggman now that he has fully recovered from his mental breakdown. just made him a stronger and more cunning villain.

EDIT: Annnnd this awesomeness happens in the very same issue:

Just got the issue today. Instead of spoilers from the issue itself, how about hints from the letters page at two characters set to return soon?

Spoiler

Did anyone here ever get their letter into the reader's page? I wrote in a few times as a kid and only ever got my name into the "find your name here" thingy.

Aw yeah, more Finitevus. One of the better characters that came from Penders' run that Ian only made better.

Wasn't he a Bollers character, not Penders?

Anyway, solicits are up for #239, SU#42, SSM#4, and Universe GN #3.

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG #239

"'Heroes,' Part One. It's Team Freedom vs. Team Metal! Elias Acorn may no longer be king, but he's still a symbol of hope in Dr. Eggman's eyes - and that just won't do! As Dr. Eggman launches a two-pronged assault, Sonic and Team Fighters must save Elias from a deadly assassin - his own sister! Featuring a brand new painted cover by Greg Horn!"

SONIC UNIVERSE #42

"'Unsung Heroes,' Part Two. When Sonic is away, the Secret Freedom Fighters make evil pay! Deep under the city, in the scar left by the Battle Bird Armada, the evil wizard Ixis Naugus is shaping the earth to his whim. Elias, the deposed king, must lead his squad of Secret Freedom Fighters to find out what's going on! But with Naugus able to control the stones and shadows, will Elias' team emerge alive?"

SONIC SUPER SPECIAL MAGAZINE #4

"Sonic Super Special Magazine is back - to the future! The first ever Sonic comic magazine in Archie history, packed with over 100 pages of comics, news and features, will spotlight the complete 'Mobius: 25 Years Later' epic! Sonic's complete futuristic adventure is collected in its entirety and available for the first time in one place in this deluxe, magazine-sized, quarterly collection! Also featured is an exclusive interview with Sonic superstar artist Ben Bates, and the new Sonic Time Line, which features more new art from fan-favorite artist Tracy Yardley!"

SONIC UNIVERSE TP VOL 03 KNUCKLES RETURNS

"Enter the Sonic Universe alongside Knuckles the Echidna! Rad Red is hot on the trail of his arch-nemesis, Dr. Finitevus. What he finds, however, is an ever-deepening mystery! But before he can investigate further, the newest Dark Egg Legion chapter attacks! To save Angel Island, Knuckles must team up with the Downunda Freedom Fighters - as well as Dr. Finitevus? New faces, new twists and surprises abound, and you cannot miss the thunderous showdown at the end! Collects the entire 'Knuckles Returns' storyline from Sonic Universe #9-12."

So, it looks like the "You don't need one book to understand the other" thing is being broken again, with #239 and SU#42 being connected like that.

#239's cover is really disappointing (Heroes Part 1, so they use a Heroes render? Come on.), but I like the old James Bond movie poster style for SU#42.

God, I love the cover of SU #42. The variant and #239 are just fucking lazy though.

VEDJ-F tipped me off to this, subscribers are reciving their SSSM#3 today. For those that are unaware, this issue of SuperSonic Special Magazine is the issue with the Sonic 4: Episode 2 tie-in. As such, people with subscriptions may have access to new info on the game (or maybe not, I dunno how SEGA/Archie have gone about this).

If anyone spots any scans of these, let us know.

Tylinos: Well, okay, the original character came from Penders, even if he was just a no-name scientist back then. You're right though, it was Bollers. :P

Alright, fair enough.

Anyway, some stuff people are saying is in SSM#3 that I'm seeing around:

The issue confirms that the Metal Sonic from the SU#41 cover is indeed Metal Sonic 2.5 (The one that died in the volcano in Issue #88)

And remember the many, many moons sometimes seen in the sky above Mobius in earlier issues, including "Muckury" from all the way back in Issue #13? The timeline update for this issue says that they're space stations like the Ark.

The timeline also says the Rabbots allied with the Overlanders in the Great War. How that makes sense considering the Overlander racism in that war, I have no idea.

EDIT: The guys from Segabits' Sonic Talk podcast have announced Ian's going to be their guest on this week's show. They've started a thread on Bumbleking for questions to ask him. If anyone has something they want to know, post it in the thread by Thursday morning:

For those interested, Herms85 on DevART did a cover art dump of the Megaman and Sonic comics. If you wanted a certain cover in HQ without any watermarks, it may be there!

Matt Herms is a pretty awesome colorist, though he does have a habit of having his covers be mostly dominated by one color.

Oh, also, the version of the SU#37 cover he put up still has Akhlut on it, who was removed from the final cover:

Finally, Segabits' interview with Ian went up on their site. It's 3 hours long, but they do have an alternate Youtube version for those who don't want to download a relatively large audio file, or simply can't:

I've listed some of the info from the interview, but I highly recommend you guys listen to it yourselves first. It's a really fun listen, and you'll miss out on Ian as Big the Cat. But if you really don't have the time to listen, or already have and need a re-summary of points, here you go:
