Here's another comparison:
Sonic 3D Blast- Special Stage (GEN)
Listen to 0:29 through 0:43
Super Mario Bros. 2 Character Select Theme
Listen to 0:16 through 0:30
And another:
Stardust Speedway Present (American)
0:42 through 0:55
Rush- Red Lenses
0:18 through 0:45
Just small parts that I think sound very similar from each other.

Has anyone brought this one up before? This guy did a great mix and it's very very uncanny:
Mystic Cave 2P - Shake Your Body Down To The Ground

Either Masa was VERY influenced by this song, or since it's using the same scale it just comes out sounding the same.

Holy Shit, I KNEW that part sounded like something I knew! I would even sing that part of this SMB2 song while listening to that special stage...not knowing why I wanted to sing it slightly differently, I was just inadvertantly recalling the Mario 2 song! HA!

That is too similar...very creepy, and new. He copied the Jackson 5.

I'm not hearing it. I mean, yeah, they're kinda similar - but certainly not close enough to suggest copying, or even inspiration.
Here's one, though, which could concievably be a case of copying:
Child's Song (Chaotix) -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWBsHXu-Bm4
Odd March (Billy Hatcher) at around 18 seconds in -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYKMvoLgsKo
I'm too lazy to check if any composers are the same between the two games.

Haha, someone needs to mix those two songs with Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', which I think is slightly closer to MCZ2P.

Apparently your laziness has got the best of you because this was found years ago. One guy helped with the music in Chaotix and BH. I'm too lazy to look up who though.

I played Billy Hatcher when it came out, and noticed it the first time I heard the song. I was just recently reminded of it, and didn't see it in this thread, so...
Also, I drank 45 coffees and got just enough energy to check the composer at the wiki - it's Mariko Nanba.

This one guy does many remixes of MJ Songs with Sonic songs.
Here are a couple:
Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal(Ice Cap Zone remix)
Michael Jackson - Thriller(Marble Garden Zone remix)
Michael Jackson - Bad (Launch Base Zone remix)
Michael Jackson - You Rock My World(Sky Chase Zone remix)
Believe me. Some of these are flat out AMAZING.

Sonic 1 (GG): Ending
Sonic Unleashed: Savannah Citadel (Day)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxLUO3LMK2I
I'm sure it's completely casual, but there is a slighty resemblance in the beginning.

It was found, like, a year ago, as soon as the first Unleashed trailer was leaked, at Sonic CulT...

But I never go to Sonic Cult
I found about it yesterday for the first time.
The only other I knew before was the World Map = Angel Island one.
