Is it Okay to use the same post to show stuff and then edit it later?
Like reusing this post to put the graphic of what I'm working on for instance?

You can edit stuff into your post if you'd like, but people may not see it as readily. As for the program you use, whatever you are most comfortable with is fine, though Photoshop (not Illustrator) is preferred by staff and used 99% of the time.

Well I've made a platform for Hidden Palace. If anything needs changing please tell me.
I've made it in Macromedia Flash 8 so it's in vector and can be readily resized. Though like anything, if resized wrong it could have some consequences.
Please tell me what you think of my current progress.
EDIT: Why is no-one saying anything?

Weekend/busy/people out doing weekend stuff? I think it's a start - looks a little bland to me, though. Could use some more detail. This is Sonic 2 HD! :p

Well really I just traced the original into vector for this image (I mean I actually drew it). I would make it less bland but I'm not really up to it at present. I'll do it eventually.

I tried to be classy, but I can't tell if I made it worse.
Pseudo-realism remix:

@steveswede Yeah I figured as much. I do like how some of the random shading I did turned out, but overall; I think I just made it looks muckier.
@RickyTheHedgehog Your updated manual highlights/shadows looks really neat and will look great if you go about doing the whole thing.

Wow. Just WOW. That looks heaps good. I'm fine with it being used. I don't mind if I only post a basis and other people edit it. I really am just glad to help. And probably couldn't do that myself in flash without HOURS of work.

Just continue with tracing the rest if you are happy with that at the moment. It is bland at the moment (pretty much how I find HPZ to be anyway) and nothing to really shout about. Though don't take it as a knock to your skills. It be interesting to see what could be done to the HPZ artwork to make it look better. It's something I wouldn't know what to do with it to give it more character unless gradients were welcomed.
EDIT:
@Maximus
Long time no see.
Sorry man but those gradients don't do it any justice and more than likely clash with the finished art.

Well next thing I'm going to do is the weird glowy bridge of coolness. And I don't really see how that's possible without gradients.
EDIT: Added orby bridge. And thanks for letting me know how to do that. Below.

Thinking about it now. Labyrinth Zone did an effective way of giving the sand stone sprites volume with it's chipped corners. Maybe something like this could be applied to the edges or even little triangles imprinted into the faces of the stone.
Don't know if it would work. They were just some random brainstorm ideas.

I like what I'm seeing. The moving highlights on the edges are subtle but work very well with the piece. I would suggest picking up an APNG maker as they're not hard to find, are typically simple to use, and won't produce visual eyesores.
For everyone else: this is a total concept and ideas thread. The staff isn't going to shoot you down for coming up with something particularly outlandish, provided it's markedly related to the project and its goal (though I would appreciate it if people would stop asking what characters we'll be including since that's been answered many times).

Well thank you for saying you liked it and for telling me how to put it in a post. Though now I just have to learn how to use imageshack.
I haven't really had any time to work on my art at present. And yes it usually looks ALOT better than that terrible gif. I haven't a clue where to get an apng maker or how I would go about getting and using one. Though at least I have firefox so they actually DO animate for me.
Will try and get some more art done asap.
