So, I was reading through some issues of Sega Visions (which was Sega's official magazine at the time) and they had some dates for EM games that I never had nailed down exactly before now, so I was updating the relevant pages and thought "hey, I should contact the sites I found most of this original data on to let them know we have official confirmation on some dates now."

I go back to one page to see if I can find the e-mail of the guy who runs it and I find THIS:

This is super-exciting for two reasons:
- It has the "even earlier" 1962 Sega logo on it (now that I have Punching Bag also confirmed for 1962.)
- This definitely proves that Service Games were making EM games pre-merger with Rosen Enterprises, which provides a huge benchmark in research.

Of course, the only things on the Internet concerning "Space Ace" have to do with the Sega CD game. Still, this is awesome and I plan to find out as much as I can about it.

That looks so awesomely retro. I hope you can find more info on it, so its gameplay could be possibly recreated.

I want a shirt with that game title and that Sega logo, for some reason.

Seems weird to see the name SEGA on something that old. Great find.

I love the picture on the machine. It looks as if its right from Jonny Quest or something.

QUOTE (Scarred Sun @ Sep 2 2010, 12:46 AM)

I'm loving the Chicago Typewriter shaped gun. That machine looks like it's been in storage for a very, very long time. Look at the dust on it. If you look carefully enough, you can see a hand print on the dust and the chain on the end of the gun appears rusted along with the aiming hairs. I wonder just how many of these things were made and if any of them still work after all of these years. I also wonder what the game play was like.

This so intrigues me Scarred Sun. I hope you find out more about it because it's kind of an exciting find. Keep up the good work on Sega Retro. thumbsup.png

Man, I unintentionally sound like such a kiss ass......... >.>

Edit: On closer inspection, I don't think the chain is rusted. It's just an odd shade of brown.

Oh, look. It's a rebrand of Derby Day called Jockey Club.

Not even kidding I saw a Space Ace at an arcade/pinball warehouse down in Kansas City, MO. It looked in way better shape than what you have pictures of, but it wasn't functioning at all. The guy also wanted a pretty hefty price tag for it. It was like a year ago that I went, if I can find the name of the place I'll pass it along to you!

Called up my buddy and found the name and phone number for the place. Keep in mind this was a year ago that I saw it there so it's possible that it's gone now, but you can only hope!

KC Gameroom Warehouse
816-472-4263

Edit- Also here is their address since for some reason the place doesn't show up on business directories.

2535 Jefferson Street
Kansas City, MO 64108

Edit 2 - Found this guy who I think is the owner of the warehouse, but his posts make it seem that they were closing up shop back in Sept/Oct. Maybe you can PM him on KLOV to see if he'll respond. It's possible he may still have some stuff, pictures, or something.

my buddy and I did some work last year for a guy who buys/sells/refurbs old EM arcade games at swap-meets and flea markets and stuff. Had a few old Sega ones in our hands as we helped him load and unload his trailers and stuff (I remember a racing/driving one where the whole course and town was painted on a wide, long looping banner). shoot me a PM if you're looking for anything in particular... If he can't get his hands on something, he might know who to talk to.
