FINALLY we can talk publically about the new server. If you look back a few months there were a couple of little clues, if you knew where to look.
Thanks to everyone for your work on the wiki and hacks and etc in general, and we want MORE this next year! I know I'm gonna make an effort to finish scanning the rest of my materials as well as a couple of other bits and pieces I have planned for the year - you all need to play your parts, too!
Here's to an awesome 2010 =P

Wow! That's great! :D
So... the new server will be faster and have less fallouts?

If you look back a few months there were a couple of little clues, if you knew where to look.
Let's see what I said back then. This really will be the start of a new era, hopefully things will never be the same again.
Speaks for itself. Things won't be the same. Usernames in the A-L range are safe. The ones in the M-Z range, on the other hand...
This one was obviously a joke. I can't believe some people thought it was real. It's the M-Z range the safe one, you fools! *runs* After the change, this site will be a lot closer to Sonic, and somehow less Retro.
Closer to Sonic = faster; less Retro = newer :3This was deliciously subtle.
Enough with the merges, it's time to clean the dust and bring out the trash. Literally. We will get rid of a cancer that has been cursing our lives way too much.
Bye cultnet, bye slow server. After all I was honest for the most part

Also, you're using a standard-upper-class-desktop-computer as the Retro server?
As opposed to what?
A beowulf cluster of these babies:

Now I see why every PNG on the Wiki is optimized.

A real server maybe?
Has it ever occurred to you that a server, in essence, is a "standard-upper-class-desktop-computer" with just a few hardware additions that are useful in a multiple-server environment?
Anyway, congrats, Retro! 7 years, and hopefully many more to come.

Incidentally, can you make an emulator using C++?

=P (written in a mix of C, C++, and x86 asm, though I'm trying to cut down on the x86 asm.)
Oooh...all I'm taking so far is C++ and Visual BASIC.
If anyone else has any other ideas on how to contribute (besides donating, I already splurged on pre-ordering the new Bentley Jones album and rechargable batteries for my Wii-Mote), with basic C++ knowledge and very basic Visual BASIC, lemme know.

Would you like to donate $2,000 to Sonic Retro so we can buy a "real" server?
