I've got a question on this, so I might as well CC it here. It's about tax deductible donations, and this is from the Child's Play site:

"Each hospital's charity tax ID number is included in the information section on its wish list. Use your confirmation email as a receipt. If you are making a cash donation, Child's Play's own tax ID number is 20-3584556. If you have any questions about how this works, please ask your tax advisor."

In short, since this is a cash drive...probably yeah, it's tax deductible.

I can confirm that it is tax deductible (in Canada as well IIRC), from information I recall from the Desert Bus charity drive. I am unsure of other countries (such as the UK), but I'm sure it is fine. As mentioned in the quote above, especially if you live out of the United States, talk to a tax advisor if you wish to include your donation as a tax deduction. If you do, please make sure you have proof of your donation in the case of an audit.

Donater: Yeah I donated to a Charity so I like a tax deduction.

Tax guy: OK sir what Charity was it and what was the cause? also, was there an event involved?

Donater: It was for "Child's play" A Charity that donates games and toys to children's hospitals. Yes the event was to ban a random person off a random internet discussion forum named after a video game character for several days/weeks/months for no reason other then hes an asshole who goes around as a wannabe reporter .

Tax guy: *Awkward stare*....Uh....ok?

Sounds fun. hope he gets banned for a good, long time!

To put things in some perspective...if everyone who read the release on my site to this point had donated $5, there would be over $3100 going to Child's Play already.

That would be a 40 day ban by day 2.

Yeah.. this is kinda the wrong time to do something like this.. Christmas = money spent already, so not many people have their wallets full for something like this, including me.

Also, over $3100 implies over 620 people.. is that unique visitors, or is it just page views in general?

Cinossu has got a point, wrong time of the season. I just had to fork over $150 of my check to the DMV so no X-mas for me this year right now I'm just focused on living until the 1st. wish I did have the income to donate to this cause.

TSS has been under the microscope since 2007. Nothing new there.

Plus, Tristan only has 198 posts in nearly 2 years. It's not worth banning him if he's not a frequent visitor. Also, banning him here doesn't stop him from being a complete dickcheese on his own site.

You might as well just donate straight to Child's Play.
