Apparently, there's a bunch of sites that don't have clean ROMs (e.g. SonicStrike - they NOP'd out the checksum code).
Sonic 2 doesn't have a checksum routine, only Sonic 1 does...

Please do not fill this topic with garbage. Subsequent off-topic posts will be deleted.

It isn't off-topic. You're trying to share something with us here, and I was having difficulty accessing it. Wouldn't have been any different had I encountered a bug that prevented this from running on my machine. Come on, now, you're an admin, we can discuss this in a civil manner. I'm not even mad!

I'll admit, though, I should've thought twice before applauding you for your fine work here. I'm sorry.

Strangely enough, Sonic 2 does! I had an issue yesterday where Sonic 2 would red-screen after being hot-patched before the ROM started. Turns out it was a byteswapping problem, which caused the newly-calculated checksum to be incorrect. Though I do remember that several years ago, S2 didn't have this issue... (Maybe I was just using a bad ROM?)

Set all the HD modes on and set frame skip to 5.

IT'S LIKE NIGHTMARE MODE OR SOMETHING

Only thing that bugs me in those screenshots is the lens flare in Metropolis. The sepia effect was cool, though.

Sonic 2 HD - putting the Marching Squares Algorithm out of business. Manually.

Edit: It uses more than 500 MB of RAM!!

Remember, it's HD, so it needs lots of memory! See the minimum and recommended system requirements in the first post.

c/p from SSRG:

Adding some kind of a sun and anti-alaising? Does this really count as High definition? =P

Nice job though. wink.png

Oh and also, I lol'd at the requirements. It worked just fine on my old crap.

What, no faithfully remastered music?
Had to use frame skip to get it at a playable speed, but it actually looked pretty sweet, for the most part. But I did have to go download clean ROMs, which was a pest D:

Now we need a custom version of S2MP3TOOL for this =D.

You know Gerbil, this could actually have some potential here to be even more awesome. Having an emulator to improve certain games isn't a half-bad idea.

I love that sepia Metropolis.

Slightly offtopic, but I've been wanting to make a new S2MusicTool for a while, possibly using WinAmp. But I would need to know how the original works. Then we could have one that would work for any emulator.
