Isn't Chimpo going to be the one creating the Sonic sprite sheet?

If you wish to make modifications on the base sprite, or make an entirely new animation, please use the BASE file as it contains the base sprite, all of the basic parts separated in layers, and the palette already organized for Sonic.

But when I click on the base file link, it shows a whole bunch of meaningless symbols, that I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with.

Main problem: shrinking head. He also tilts it backward too much. I'm pretty sure that last frame is unnecessary.

He appears to be leaning back past his center of gravity. You should probably make him move his rear foot a bit if you want to do something like that.

Looks like Sonic's thrusting, and the last frame's pretty pointless. With them fixed and the speed slowed down slightly it'd be amazing.

OK, been out out of the loop for a while, and so wasn't here to witness the black hole that formed due to the old project forum collapsing in on itself.
Anyway, I'd like to make a Sonic palette suggestion, the current palette reminds me of Sonic's palette from the Game Gear release of Sonic 1. How about something more akin to the Mega Drive Sonic palettes, like this -

Left: original, right: altered
Click image for modified base file.
Update:

Modified the posted animated gifs to use my suggested palette, that way you'll get to see it in motion.

I'm very sorry for all the hard work Chimpo put into that sprite sheet now I saw OrdosAlpha's revision. It looks more Sonic then any other official Sonic ever has.
