There's lots of RAM, there's the 68K ram, the Z80, ram, and the VRam. The VRam, contains all of the sprites, mappings, the 68k ram includes the variables created from the actuall Code, like the number of rings sonic has, number of lives, etc. Game genie codes actually modify the rom, not the ram.

"Dump > RAM in Genecyst" with that, though, I'm assuming it's my 68k ram dump, as I've haven't used Genecyst recently and I don't remember. :)

What about the Z80? Or is that just the music processor (I don't remember)?

The Z80, yes is the sound processor. If you removed that, you wouldn't hear the YM2612 or PSG etc...

You should work with LOst and combine your added features, and his added features, into one emulator.

Add an interactive debugger and I'll love you long time =P

That would depend if LOst would want to do that...

*Bump*

Well, I can't edit my last post, so I'm double posting!

I had a beta version of my next Gens Version, oh, about 2-3 weeks ago, that I wasn't going to release, but now I will, because I've lost my computer, for who knows how long.

In this release, the config works. Also, there are new dumps as well as the ability to import certain parts of the genesis...and as most people wouldn't understand what I just wrote (I didn't...), you'll just have to download it to see.

ALSO:

Wonderful news on the development of this emulator, an Interactive Debugger IS coming together. There is code right now in the beta for the debugger as well as layer disabling, but, sorry, I've disabled it. As soon as I can get my computer working again, I can finally finish my work! :)

Download DebuGens Beta 2

Oh, and also with this, is my old, unfinished, biggest piece of working shit, a PVM Extractor. I pulled apart the PVM file format and wrote this crappy VB program. Happy Fucking Birthday.

Regards,
Fuzzbuzz

Heres my review:

You can dump the files from that rom and you can import the files that you dump into any genesis roms and play. This also works for the sounds too. :D Look what I did to Sonic & Knuckles with Sonic 2 title screen dump:

Alright, my next question will sound incredibly turd-ish, but I never knew what it was. What is the purpose of dumping roms?

Neo-Arcadia: Try Shift-Backspace. Take screenshots without seeing the ugly Windows dropdown menu in your screen!

Tails: Originally, it was for pirates to hack the game and release bootleg copies. Some pirates released the ROMs on the Internet, someone wrote an emulator to play those ROMs on a computer, and the emulation scene was born.

They don't do it much now. Already-dumped ROMs are all over the place.

I almost considered not putting it in the emulator. However, I figured that some people still had 56K, and just in case they only had a .smd rom, they could just dump out the binary as they play. I dunno, it's kinda useful.

I forgot about that. Thanks!

*bump* New release. Oh, and the server is down right now, so it may be an hour or two before you can DL it. Sorry. But hey, it will be worth the wait. ;)
