Apparently, the drowning music from the early Sonic games scares some people. It never bothered me because I was too busy finding Sonic an air bubble to be scared of the music. What do you think? Does the drowning music creep you out?

It used to do because it meant I had really little time and I had to find a bubble urgently (and you know the freaking countdown tends to start when bubbles seem to be gone or totally unreachable).
Yeah, I hate water levels. And what? =P

It's not really scary, it's sort of more of a fun thrill or just frustrating depending on my mood... Kinda sucks to have the bubble finally appear a millisecond after you drown, but at the same time, it's kind of funny.

GOD YES XD
Whatever, after some years I figured out that standing on top of a bubble group tends to make it create big bubbles (sometimes it's even the first bubble it'll release after you get on it), in case that helps.

Because I'd freak out and reset the first time I'd get hit in Sonic 2 when I was really young, I tended to not reach ARZ.
As a result the drowning music didn't normally affect me much.
I usually played 2-player, which had no water.

When I first played Sonic, it scared the crap out of me. But I was only 6 so.... I jumped and slammed the power button on the Genesis =P

It scared the hell out of me as a kid. Sometimes I still flinch when I hear it due to conditioning.

Honestly, what's in the water creeps me out far more than the water itself, like Mario 64's Unagi in Jolly Roger Bay and some of the fish in Big's fishing missions -- almost all of them look ridiculously freaky.

It doesn't scare me, but I freak out when I hear it. "GET THE FUCKING BUBBLE!"

Yeah, it doesn't. It's strange. Always the last 2 seconds does that one bubble come up.

Oh, it scared me when I was younger. I always told my friend STAY OUT OF THE WATER when he was playing Sonic Adventure.

OMG! I always had to pause it and turn down the volume when I was younger. AHA the memories.

Always scared me, and still does to a degree. That music creeps me out so much that I've trained myself to get out of the lower sections of Chemical Plant so quickly that the water doesn't touch me. Masato Nakamura is a genius.
I stuck it on my MP3 player once by mistake, amongst a bunch of other Sonic music. Near jumped out of my skin when it came on.

This music scares the shit out of me in-game. However I occasionally like to listen to the different versions used throughout the games. Everytime I hear it I think "OH SHIT....I NEED AN AIR BUBBLE NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW"
The sad thing is that I used to hate labyrinth zone back in the day because I DIDN'T know about the air bubbles. I don't think I was ever in the water long enough in Hydrocity (or I had a water shield) to ever need an air bubble, which is why I thought Sonic 1 was always soooo hard. I never knew until the late 90s that it was possible to get air under water. I thought the little tiny bubbles on the ground were just for looks! Chemical Plant would always scare me too until I got faster at getting through the pink water part. I was always able to avoid the water part of Aquatic Ruin...it took a few years to even realize there was an underwater path.
Sad, right?
