Well, today I was pretty bored and decided to experiment with the routine calcsine in sonic 1. In the end I made a new boss, so I thought I'd share it with the good people at Retro. It's not that incredible though, I only spent two hours on it. Here's my neat new custom boss. Tell me what you think of it. Also, it's at GHZ act 3, don't stand in the middle at the end!

It's a nice little boss, but it's quite hard. Good thing you left that invincibility box. XD

With invincibility: 11 seconds.

I learned the hard way not to stand where the animal box spawns. ~_~

That's a pretty cool boss. It's too difficult once the speed increases, but if you leave it at the same speed and make him move around I think that could work well.

I was surprised when I first played this, thinking that it was at the usual place in Green Hill Zone Act 3 until it appeared in a flash. Nice work!

That's cool. Although, the boss re-appears for a second when you hit the capsule, so if you have no rings & no invincibility when you hit the capsule, you're gonna die =P
Other than that, it's good. I tried without invincibility once and kept losing and re-collecting the same ring in order to beat it XD

Robotnik came flying out of the capsule!

It's a trap!

Very nice, but I'm having issues seeing how you can beat it without being hit. I got whacked every time after the 4th hit =P

Hahahahaha, this is harder.
I LOVED it because I love difficulty. It joins creativity and difficulty, and the boss appearing in a flash is very nice. Another great work I see. :colbert:
I can't wait to see the Marble Zone boss.

Yeah, this boss is a bit difficult, I think that it could be beat without getting hit though. I'm actually thinking of maybe holding a little class on IRC about making a boss and getting started with one and how they work (such as having one load through the DLEs or having them manage an object they created). Also I didn't really plan on making a marble zone boss but I may do so now that I'm thinking about it.

If anyone is interested in such a lesson please let me know and I'll set up a date or something.

Didn't Jman do something like this a while back?

Actually I may be interested in that. I'm trying to remake Sonic Pocket Adventure in Sonic 2. Boss ports/ remakes would be helpful (Port as I can move Metal Sonic to a different level and I need to port the Knuckles boss from Sonic and Knuckles)

Awesome boss, and awesome idea for the class on IRC. I would so totally be into learning how to make a custom boss.

Wow. The Sonic hacking community is starting to look more and more like a more mature version of the SMW hacking community every day.
