Here's the full story,

My cousin came over 1 or 2 weeks back and although he's a sound guy, well....
...put it this way:

He is BRILLIANT at C++ programming, he can program shit that'll make you rub your eyes,

But, He doesn't know how to work something simple out like a plug socket, if it's not C++ then he don't know Jack shit about,

some people call him "incredible", others call him a "Gormless Fuckwit", my personal name for him now is "I gonna fucking rip out your spine".

so, why am I pissed off with him?

while I was at work, he decided to crack the password to my PC and start playing with shit and making programs, now I have by no means knowledge of the power of C++ Programming, but what ever he did, it's completly Fucked my Sonic Hacking ASM files,

the last backup I did was the beta version of Sonic Regen, I was due to make another, but I guess I didn't do it soon enough, there were alot of things changed from the last backup I have, and I REALLY don't wanna start again,

so it will no longer be worked on, that's it, it's finished.

before you all start bashing your heads on the keybord, I was able to retrive a build of the Destroyed final from "D.A.Garden" and "Malevolence" (Thank you), and I've left 2 download links, one to the last Beta, and one to the Unfinishable Final, so If you wish to play it, then be my guest.

Sonic Regeneration "Beta"
http://www.2shared.com/file/4127223/5b5744...Regen_Beta.html

Sonic Regeneration "Final"
http://www.2shared.com/file/4127233/424c75...egen_Final.html

and that's it, "that's all folks" the end of Sonic Regen,

Please do not report any bugs with the hack because it will not be fixed, you get what your given.

now at the moment I'm nearly done making a splash screen for "DalekSam" (And yes he's given me credit "mother"), and If "Aquaslash" is ok with me fixing up the last parts of Sky Highway Zone then I'll be finishing on that also,

But what do I do next after they are done? I need advise, help please!

FUCK.
Another good hack down the shitter, sorry that your work's fucked.
But at least I finally have a chance to play this hack, which has awesome art edits like Secret Ocean Zone.
Also nice options screen, I didn't expect that.

Geez, this is unfortunate. We had mentioned for a bit on IRC how this had been looking up for the most part.

What now? I know a couple hacks need people to do layouts on, I understand.

Sounds like a typical Windows C++ programmer to me.

In any case, next time you start a programming project, be sure to use a version control system, such as Subversion or git. That way, you can maintain a log of changes and revert to a known-good version in case anything messes up.

Um, one and a half stages? Cool, I guess. Only thing that impressed me really were the little columns you drew. And the spinning blue ball as an obstacle. Except it was kinda glitchy when you were invincible.

What all ASM were you tweaking? I only played the "final" version, but it really didn't seem like there was all that much to it other than some level editing and some pretty decent level art.

Now you know another reason why I'm finished with it.

Sigh I'll say it again...

To all hackers: MAKE BACKUPS OF YOUR WORK AND PUT THE FILES ON YOUR MAILBOX(ES) to avoid stuff getting lost!
Backup OFTEN!

(/end rant)

Mailboxes can get hacked too, you know. Make several back-ups in several drives D=

Because he has criticism of your work? I'd hardly say that's reasonable... you had some awesome stuff going on. No need to be discouraged.

As for this whole situation, really sorry to hear that. I hope you have better luck working with The S Factor, though.

This is sad news...
I am impressed at the menu screen you made though. :)

Edit: Also, ever hear of system restore? It helps in situations like this... so I've heard.

Considering how this was screwed up, I highly doubt a system restore would have worked. He probably completely broke up the operating system and most likely some more stuff.

put it this way: I now have a blank screen as a wallpaper, No welcome screen, and my sisters pissed off with me as if it's my fault her files are also fucked

but no, I have System restore turned off, reason? it adds an extra Process to the CPU, mine can only handle 18 MAX.

Even if the hack files are fucked up, you might still be able to get something back out of them...

Also, I played both versions. They have different levels. I really liked the final's Lakeside Gardens, especially the way greenery and waterfalls are everywhere. It's a shame the hack is canceled now, but oh well.
