test-object,
I like the vast majority of your Egg Prison, especially the details that you've added near the feet. My only complaint is that the the little light or whatever it is under the main structure (hanging near the center between the feet) is much smaller than the original. I see how you've interpreted the object, but I feel like at least the border around the light should be thicker, making it closer to the ground. |

Wait, why are the shades of gray different between the top and the middle part? The top is pure gray (#xx xx xx), the middle part has a dominant blue tint (didn't read the whole thread, sorry if this was already brought up)
edit: also, the two "feet" of the machine have a difference of one pixel. The one on our right is too high by one pixel. This post has been edited by nineko: Nov 5 2009, 05:44 PM |

don't mind the shitty .jpg quality.
![]() Just wondering what the circled part is supposed to be. Metal brick? It looks kinda unnatural. With the darker shade right over it and what not. |

The areas in red should be much thicker, in my opinion. It will make the container look more solid and densely structured, it will also give it more character, in my opinion. Also, the height seems off, and the right foot is about a pixel shorter. I think the whole object needs to be more reflective also, or possibly more of a plastic sheen, if that makes sense. I don't like the texture applied, looks like either a brushed steel or galvanized. The original looks like it either has a very bright light shining at it, or is very reflective, or even a mixture of both. Lastly, I think those nodes in red are unnatural in the direction they point. Sorry for so many criticisms, it still continues to look better with each revision.

I had no idea either. I've kinda fixed it, I think. The areas in red should be much thicker, in my opinion. Glad you noticed, I've been having problems with those. I would like someone to make a 3D-mockup ONLY for those yellow dents. Also, I was wondering what those were anyway. LEDs? Little closed air vents?QUOTE I think the whole object needs to be more reflective also, or possibly more of a plastic sheen, if that makes sense. I think this part circled in cyan is supposed to be curved to create an upside down funnel. Not too curved, but not an edged area, if you know what I mean. In terms of the height in red, maybe you can find a way the stretch the object to become taller. Maybe stretch the dome upwards (or add that small funnel section). Also, the area circled in green looks like additonal space for the mechanical objects of the prison cage (or added space for the animals to stand in, or whatever else). That needs to be added somehow to this version of the prison cage. |

Sonic 2HD - Project Leader & Lead Artist

I've seen so much good stuff appearing lately, that I'd like to extend my personal thanks to all contributors, especially Test-Object and MaximusDM for their excellent work!
You're both an example of how to make your ideas / concepts, have a direct approach towards S2HD. ^^ Said this, and getting into Test's Capsule review: ![]() RED MARK: The lock outlines are showing out white aliased pixels, clean them out! Probably due this and shadows, the yellow light seems to slightly be offcentered too. ORANGE MARK: The sides are not perfectly round neither mirrored, their edges stick out too much from the main body. GREEN MARK: I'm not a big fan of this fake perspective step, but the light does not affect it as strong as it should. In the original, that line is almost white. CYAN MARK:the thing below the yellow light is not well defined and a bit too blurry. As for the general composition, (not being a fan of texturized steel) it seems to miss a strong illumination on the yellow stripes, and some strong metal reflection. The rest, and especially the opened dome added details are simply spectacular!! :D Please go on with polishing it and we'll surely put it in use on Alpha! |

Why has nobody else mentioned that the 3D rendered warning tape makes the rest of it look entirely flat? (Not to mention the 3D tape looks cheap enough in itself)
I mean, it's bad enough that different peoples' art styles may clash (see the hilariously bad 3D Chemical plant tiles juxtaposed with the hand-drawn stairblocks for example) without clashing within the same piece of art. |

PAW! If I work much more on it, it'll turn out only worse. I've taken most of you people's good advice but the only thing left to do in my opinion, are the things in the red square. I need a 3D mock-up to understand their angles. If no-one wants to provide those, this will have to settle for the final one... which would sadden me, really. You don't WANT to see me sad, do you?

"I've WORKED HARD TO MAKE SOMETHING NOBODY LIKES AND I CAN'T BE BOTHERED PUTTING IN THE EFFORT TO CHANGE IT" Perhaps we should rephrase that: I've worked hard on something YOU don't like, and I am bothered to put effort in it, as I asked people to provide me with a mock-up. I surely have stuck more effort in than you, since all you did was complain and slowing down the process even more. What's up with the momentarily ALL-CAPS trolling retardation, by the way? There may be a bit of truth to thas, but it's not as if he hasn't done a great job already.
I think it almost looks fine the way it is, but I do believe that the certain object centered correctly and the overall size has to match the original for tiling purposes. |
