You really liked the box? I must confess I thought it was a joke, not an actual contribution to the project.

I don't think he realised that you were joking. :P Then again, nor did I...

Incidently, regarding the red springboard, there's some more WIPs of it here: (http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?sho...0484&st=630)

I gotta be honest, I never liked the reworked capsule, so I'm working on a newer one ;3

I gotta be honest, I never liked the reworked capsule, so I'm working on a newer one ;3 ![]() It looks alright, but you have the black/yellow stripes wrong on there (it needs more of an angle to it, and the black lines should be completely meeting at the metal surface, instead of the yellow); they need to be done like it was before - 3D first (like how the platform was done), then transfer that over into 2D. Either that, or make the whole thing 3D and work from there. This post has been edited by The Growler: Nov 2 2009, 05:10 PM |

Reposting this so you don't have to search back for it.

As it stands the dome portion looks incredibly flat in terms of depth. Don't darken it until you're right at the edge. Putting some slight shadows around the edges where the lights would connect to the dome would give a nice ambient occlusion illusion as well.

You just needed an excuse to call something an "occlusion illusion." XD

Can anyone post an example in the Concept thread of what they think the lower part in the middle looks like? I seriously have no clue.

Just posting a quick example of what I had hoped EHZ's grass was going to be like when I first heard about this project.
It's not perfect (I knocked it up in quarter of an hour ), and I know it's not the direction you're going in with the art design. But, anyway, just putting it out there!

Looks better than most of the early concepts. You should've joined up earlier and it might've ended up looking like that. :P

It could still be done for HTZ. The "unmown" look would probably be more appropriate there anyway.
I really like the style a lot, but for me the light-dark pattern should be even less well defined. As is it looks like a very messy pattern and a very structured pattern are fighting each other. |
