(I had not noticed how much the tail looks like a razor blade until now!)

It's just a matter of personal oppinion, but I'd like both to be included.

This is exactly why I think there should be 2 sets...
These are just normal discussion that always go into game development. Part of maintaining artistic control is sometimes, unfortunately, cutting very good work.
I think maintaining one set will ensure a higher quality project. Maybe when everything is done, we can talk abou alternative sets (it shouldn't be too tough) but for the purpose of getting this project done, we should be working towards one, single goal.
EDIT: And I gotta agree about the masher. While I appreciate the effort the dude put into it, it really doesn't look very good, nor does it match the style the projct is going for.
This is just criticism, don't take it as a flame or anything, nor am I trying to discouage people from contributing. Try again, perhaps?

With that said, I want to encourage both DiscoKing and the vector artists to keep doing their great work, and all the other people to keep offering criticism equally on both sides.

I plan on starting from scratch on it some time this week.

I vouch for Drex's version - Drex just needs to fix the face so that it's bit like #4 as well as fix the perspective problem on the bottom segment of the bee
Nice job with the Masher.
No, BAD job. Looks like the original sprite was only vectorized and removed some stuff.

Well obviously as Exodus said himself it was just a very quick draft. Of course he's going to be fine-tuning it some more.
And I don't like the idea of having two different styles, at least not yet. I say continue to focus on the cartoon-ish style that Vincent has done excellently with.

No granites 1st attempt.
All granites were taken out barring the shine under the body and the ring connecting the pole and thorax. Anything else that may be there was missed.
Congratulations, that's really beautiful.
(and blends so much better than before to characters art, thanks to less shading)
About the "sets" we will not support a CG version of Sonic 2 HD.
Thus 3D DiscoKing's marvellous result, and the need of properly testing 3D on BG, items and Boss Veichles S2HD will use 2D art drawings for all the rest. Including Characters and Badniks
Once this project will be "closed" we will consider the "packs" option, not before.

Good choice. Sounds good to me.
And that art by Drex quoted above me really does look great, actually. The shading definitely fits with the rest.
It looks more like it's spluttering - nearly going 'kaput' to me - rather than it being able to fly; perhaps cut out the 'engines off' frame, that might help.
