This hints that, like the Sonic OVA and Sonic CD, it may have been planned to at some point, but was shot down for whatever reason.

It might not have been emulation issues really, but Sega used this opportunity to release the Monster World games separately in its own Ages 2500 collection for the PS2.

I mean, probably better to release a huge bunch of Monster World games into its own collection (and gain a small profit for it), rather than putting only one of them in a Sonic collection. But hey, it would've been a good freebie either way.

Not to mention that Monster World IV is available for the Virtual Console in Japan too, but it's just off-topic mentioning. ^^;

I wouldn't say no to the Sonic OVA included in the Mega Collection either.

Mega Collection was 2002, though, about five years before Monster World Complete Collection ended up coming out. The first Sega Ages 2500 game wasn't even for another year, and Monster World is vol. 29. It's possible they had a Monster World collection in mind, but five years would be a pretty long gestation period for a low-budget compilation.

I figure that the developers was still thinking about what games to put into the collection. I had this notion that they picked games that they felt would need some exposure, or just for nostalgia purpose. Feels kinda odd to have The Ooze in the collection though, unless there was some insider thing among the developer team that decided to put it in there.

Oh, about the Sonic OVA, Sega and Sonic Team could've definitely have fitted it into the Mega Collection, since both of the parts together are around 1 hour total. With some heavy duty compression, they could've fitted it just enough on a Gamecube disc, and guaranteed on the two other versions. The way I see this now though, is that ADV Films were already selling the DVD to the Sonic OVA, so why put it into the Mega Collection too, unless they'd feel generous, or decide to raise the price tag for the collection.

It's the same reason that some cartoon and anime episodes and movies are available for other collections than Sonic, like say the Mega Man TV Show in Mega Man Anniversary Collection for PS2, and the Street Fighter the Animated Movie for the Hyper Street Fighter Collection. This is just simply a content fill-up versus price setup. I mean, how much would we be willing to spend on the Mega Collection if Sonic CD and Sonic OVA was in there, without anything else getting removed. Another $10 or $20 dollars? It's up to each one of us to decide if we can afford that on a collection.

The Ooze and Comix Zone were probably both included because they're STI games released following Sonic 2. With those and Spinball, they're just missing Kid Chameleon and Die Hard Arcade.

Yea you're right. Thanks for the input. I was so happy that at least Comix Zone made it to the collection.

Even if Sonic CD and the movie were included I doubt Sony would have let them have anything but a budget title. So the gamecube version wouldn't be priced much different either, cause there can't be much of a price gap between systems.

So, this proto has disappeared from the internet. Think anyone could re-up it somewhere? Thanks.
