3:07 Unused Bosses flash by 3:26 Looks like the missing R2 stage had a concept. (Although it is called round 8 in this video) Edit: Holy crap it's actually a whole new level with all the concepts laid out. The missing level was supposed to be on the main planet apparently. He calls the unused boss round 8 boss, and then goes by a boss with a spike club. R8 Boss Psyco Egg Unnamed Boss (3:19 in the video) "This is the final stage. You can see eggman's face in the background" Color Experiment. Looks like a mix of collision chaos and stardust speedway with a Mountain Dew ad (or 9ew)
Ok more speculation as to why this game is coming out on XBLA wednesday. Go to the Xbox live game market place. Then go to games and search under game type. From there go to arcade games. The first two games listed are currently Joe Danger Special Edition and Sonic CD (The default sort is by release date, with the most current being in front). You can't download those two, but the rest are available to download. Joe Danger is set to come out this week, this was confirmed in the XBLA blog. They haven't said shit for Sonic CD. But they're ready. The signs are all over the place.
Hey, that time travel doodle looks more like the warp effect that's in the original Sonic 1, with all those small stars after Sonic disappears in a flash.
Proportions are a bit off, but I tried a go at guessing their colors. Very neat stuff in that video, thanks SEGA.
I can only imagine how many people will be confused wondering where Round 8 is when they complete Metallic Madness.
In the level select Metallic Madness is listed as round eight. The round eight boss shown also resembles the final boss after it has lost it's blades, maybe it was to have another phase where the mech spewed fire.
Even though I liked the Developer Diary, why is the 4:3 animation cropped? I know widescreen is a big selling point but the animation shouldn't be cropped.
Isn't the animation used in the original Sonic CD game at an aspect ratio wider than 16:9, like 21:9? Cropping something that still works in that wide a ratio is not only forgiveable, but appreciated, as its framed for a wider ratio.
You are losing part of the picture. That is not something I appreciate at all. One of the best things about widescreen TV's in general is being able to see more on screen, not less. Not to mention it'll also make the resolution worse.
If the video were in a wider aspect ratio than 16:9, that'd be fine, but as W.A.C. demonstrated quite nicely, they cropped it from an already-cropped image. It's, like, Cropception or something.
I -might- be wrong, but I believe the original animation was in 4:3, and it was cropped to 2.35:1 for US release. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54B23EoieM4 JP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPC8W672mXc US edit: No, it seems to get even more complicated than that, with the old PC port, and then all the youtubers trying to be smart with their own aspect ratio "corrections" (read: plain stretching). What's definite though is that the 4:3 was the pre-cropped version, rather than the other way round.
Right, so after this game can we expect to see Sonic 3K remade? That'd be ace. Still day-1 iPhone purchase.
Unless he means it was in the mountain or going to be in the mountain, that would explain some. How else is that measly mountain holding something colossal as little planet? And with just a chain =|
