I was getting pretty tired of having to run a Windows XP Virtual Machine every time I wanted to use Kega Fusion. Lately, I've been testing the newest WINE Release and seeing how well software runs using it. So I decided to try to run Kega Fusion through WINE...

By borrowing a Kega Fusion config file from Windows and dropping it into Kega's OS X folder and set X11 to output thousands of colors instead of millions, I was able to start Kega Fusion with little trouble. WINE throws many log errors, but from all my tests, the Megadrive/Genesis, Mega CD, and 32x all work, and surprisingly well.

  2. Yes. I use Kega Fusion linux, and it works fine after tweaking the configuration file and starting the X server in 16 bit color depth.

Oh, so that's it? It keeps crashing on me because it can't handle my WAY TOO AWESOME COLORS? Meh, I guess I'll play around with that later, though it isn't on the top of my list at the moment.

I did find a problem, however. Every time you open Kega Fusion in WINE, it seems that it remembers where all the BIOS files are, but doesn't actually load them, creating problems when playing most ROMs. Luckily, to force Kega Fusion to load the BIOS files, you simply click on the browse button on all the BIOS boxes in the settings, then click Open n all of them, and it seems to fix everything.

There was a port of Linux Gens for Intel Macs that puto and I distributed for a short time, It does Sega CD and Genesis natively, but 32x chokes for some reason that I was never able to figure out. I wonder if Puto still has it somewhere

I actually have the dmg somewhere on my Hard Drive. I'll have to dig it out.

EDIT: Found the MacGens Disk Image.
