    If people are too lazy:

Well bust my balls...A CD worth buying! Why only 1 and 2 though?...

But what I'm wondering is is SEGA going to pull a "20th anniversary edition" and leave a few select tracks out to make it all fit on 1 CD, or is this going to be all tracks like the article says?

Those demo tapes are worth buying this CD alone, maybe we will hear something new that we have never heard before...

They just need to do what they did with Outrun on it's 20th Anniversary and just release one big batch of all (or all major) Sonic soundtracks.

Anyways, might actually get this one. Not only because of the allure of "goodies", but because this will probably be a complete soundtrack and therefore worth my time. I'd appreciate the convenience of this being brought state-side so it'd be easier to sway my parents to place the order for me. Oh how I await the day I can do such things myself.

Sega, if you don't bring this to western audiences I'll get people to rip it for me never forgive you.

From my limited knowledge and please correct me if I'm wrong, A demo tape is the original source of the game's music when a game is being developed. The artist records the song(s) and puts them in 1 track or in the case of the 90s a tape cassette and then uses the demo tape to show off an example of what the music would be like to other parts of the games development group.

This is great because this is something close to the development of sonic 1, which we have very little documentation of and from an official source which like never happens ever! there could be some changes we have never heard thats been kept secret for years. I'm not too excited over sonic 2's because of the extensive research that was done for it (IE: The beta leaks)

I think I edited it out of my post before you responded Lanzer. Sorry about that. I gave it a few minutes thought, came to the conclusion you posted and realized I asked a pretty dumb question. :v: Thank you for the answer though! I see how valuable the demo tapes are now. Hopefully this/these soundtracks won't be too costly...

Actually I would like demotapes from Sonic 3 (and S&K) :3
    MJ style.

But I'm very curious about these ones too.

Well, button my star! I's never expect them to release the demotapes for Sonic 1 and 2! And look that this is only happening because Masato Nakamura is all friendy-friendy with SEGA once again. Likewise, this is the reason we are seeing official rearrangements (made by SEGA) of his compositions, like the original Sonic theme music in Sonic Generations.

I'll be in awe to listen to the high quality version of 'some of the' Sonic 1 songs.

  10. Oh this is so worth importing if it doesn't see a release here.

... Excuse me one minute while I drown in my own drool. I can't wait to hear this, and I hope it'll be easier to find/less expensive than DCT's instrumental collection released a while back.

Wow, those demotapes are really something.

One has to wonder why they made a distinction between Sonic 1's original demotape and Sonic 2's recording of the demotape, though.

Not where I want to be.
Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
Maybe Sonic 2's isn't available anymore?

What I was wondering was wether it will be the full Sonic 2 demotape, but in lower quality due to it not being gathered from the original recording, or if it's just an incomplete Sonic 2 demotape in the same quality as the original.

    I so want this.

Because that's what the artist only worked on?
Shitty writing on the writer's part perhaps? I would wage that unlike Sega, DCT would keep track of all their original material in case they see a point in profiting off of them. That's what band, music artists, and music labels in the music industry do right?

Very interested in those demo tapes of Sonic 1 and 2. Could reveal so much more about where their influences originated from.

    Doing absolutely nothing
Awesome, now if only they would release Sonic OVA's soundtrack.

  18. Alright, a soundtrack I actually want to buy aside from the eventual Generations soundtrack! Looks like I'm plunking some of my birthday money down after all.
