Well, the Naomi 2 was an update to the Naomi... Quoting from System16: "Naomi 2 has four time the amount of main memory and graphics memory that Dreamcast has, and twice that of the naomi so ports from Naomi to Dreamcast may involve more conversion time and a great loss of texture detail. Also note that the Naomi2 board has four times the sound memory of the Dreamcast, and the reason for this is because the Naomi board isn't meant to spool redbook audio from the GD-ROM drive." Also the Naomi 2 is "backwards" compatible If Im not wrong. You just need a GD Rom Drive like the one he has though, just like with the normal Naomi. Well, except the first "proto", my list was about the same :P I was kinda with doubts about that first video because it seemed like a tech demo to show the game a little. Its nice to hear its a prototype, shame some stuff was cut out of it. I'd be awesome to find that one someday :P
Ok, I see about the NAOMI 2. As for DOA2 proto bullshit, this is one thing I hate about the arcade naming/parent/clone/whatever we have right now both in MAME and out... (Incidentally I only see one doa2 entry in MAME (along with the Millenium version), but I don't have the CHD so I can't see if it's the final or not until I do. NAOMI dumping is something else that has to be better organized. But there are other issues, like various System C errors (puyo is a bootleg but isn't marked as one, for instance, and is the parent of puyoj, the real one; I've seen one site confused by this already; I'll have to reread the Puzzle & Action stuff but I'm still unsure about the legitimacy of the non-JP versions))
Yep NAOMI 2 is backwards compatible, so you might as well get it instead of the NAOMI 1, especially if you want Virtua Fighter 4. They're both standalone, there's no NAOMI 2 plugin upgrade. I'd love to get a wheel and Initial D, but wiring up an analogue steering wheel and pedals is much more tricky than a standard jamma set up - a dedicated cab is far easier. I might give it a try later on though. I work for the government, but I've been a little bit less brazen and packed it up in my drawers at work and just pull it out at lunch times. Just recently replaced the original fans with "quieter" ones, although now instead of a loud low rumble, it's a kind of a soft high pitched whine, not sure if it's an improvement. Also, bought Tetris Kiwamemichi recently, and I have Illvello and Melty Blood Actress Again in my sights.
Gah... Any chance you'd be willing to share some files from the dump? There's an effort to mod the PC version to make it more like the TX2 one, and having the mods come straight from the source is always best.
cross post with pick-up thread The final DIMM revision for the NAOMI, which makes VF4:FT playable. Currently on ebay for about $300, I got this disc for FREE from a Japanese distributor Got it with my copy of Tetris Kiwamemichi - which is a pretty decent version of Tetris, shame it never got a Dreamcast port.
Ugh fucking system assignments > Would you mind listing what they are? I was thining of adding them to Sega Retro after having to fiddle with some for some of the dumped games I downloaded ( =P ) but sadly not all games are dumped so :/
Most of them are related to screen orientation and number of players. If you get a CAUTION 51 it's the wrong number of players, and if you get a CAUTION 54 you've got to flip the screen. Most shoot-em-ups are vertical, but Radirgy confused me for a while because it's a vertical shooter with horizontal orientation.
More games. Melty Blood: Actress Again. Very rare and expensive, but managed to get a brand new kit for Y18,000 Illmatic Envelope (aka Illvelo), again, somewhat rare, brand new kit for Y15,000
Oh, Only ¥18,000? That was pretty much cheap for Actress Again. I have seen those way more expensive than that. I must admit that I love packages with those command lists and stuff too.
I know, I've got an excellent dealer. I'm eyeing off Accent Core and Senko no Ronde SP for next months order I'm currently ranked 25th on the Exzeal High Score Table. I'm quite chuffed Is that the correct selection under 'Prefecture' for 'Overseas'?
I think that says "Other" =P Also isn't Shooting Love the name of the PS2 compilation, or do they all have those words on them? This is something that confused me when I tried making an article on the game...
From Memory 1. Trizeal (Dreamcast/NAOMI) 2. Shooting Love: Trizeal (PS2) = Trizeal + Shooting Skills Assessment 3. Shooting Love 2007 (NAOMI) = Exzeal (ie Trizeal 2) + Shmups Skills Test 4. Shooting Love 200X (X360) = Exzeal + Shmups Skills Test + Trizeal Remix + Minus Zero Not sure if Shooting Skills Assessment = Shmups Skills Test
Huh. The System16 website says there was a Trizeal in 2004 (Taito release on NAOMI GD-ROM) and 2007 (Sega release on NAOMI). Perhaps the Shooting Love 2007 is what they mean by the latter?
I'd say so. I think XIISTAG (Triangle Service first shmup) was also in the Shooting Love: Trizeal package on PS2, or at least the ship from XIISTAG was playable in Trizeal, something like that.
Cross post from pick-up thread. Got a couple of the last ever GD-roms produced. ACCENT CORE! LETS ROCK! Typical price = $300, got it for $150 SENKO NO RONDE SP! LETS DANCE! Typical price = $1500, got it for $300 I love my japanese supplier.
