That yellow paper section was awesome!! Forgot about that

Damn right! Highscores, strategy guides (including, reportedly, almost enough Tekken 3 to get Paul Davies fired. Almost.) and the ever-entertaining "DROORINZ WOT U DUN" section, hosted by Hunter the Dog (himself a jagged, low-effort vector abomination). I still refer to one particular drawing in that latter section; a hilarious (possibly unintentionally) Sagat from Street Fighter Alpha saying to himself "JA, I LIKE KILLING PEOPLE". Oh, the memories.

Might be purposely trying to keep the subject away from chasing that proto, mind... :P

Haha oh yes the drawing section - drawinz wot u done - funny shit. I almost submitted a picture of link but didn't want them to crap on it haha. Something charming about seeing barely visible screenshots on black & yellow print.

Anyway, yes we are veering this thread off topic so that's enough of that :v:

“For every mystery, there is someone, somewhere, who knows the truth. Perhaps that someone is watching. Perhaps....it's you!”

It'll turn up eventually. =P

I see it as hopeful, I'm guessing allot of us thought that was it for discovering new S1 protos. At least it's out there...

I'm assuming this will be one with a possible working Sonic on a ball in Green Hill, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I would think that he knows it's a pre-release version of some kind as he clearly said it has stuff not in the final, so it could be a build just months before release with a few changes visually like spring yard sparking stuff.

Even if we never see it or this version of the game never comes to light at least we sort of know one exists and that's nice to think about by itself.

Wow, just watched the video! I hope this can be resolved. It'd be very interesting to get that dumped. All I can say is best of luck to evilhamwizard and drx on it really, the best guys for the job no doubt.

Based on the photos that John cut into the video, I was assuming it's probably the build used for those magazine shots. (So Sparkling Zone, like you said)

Is DRX or evilhamwizard able to go into more detail on why its randomly locked away in storage or is it one of those situations where the less we know the better?

The video mentions the guy who knows where it is "has issues with his Dad" and can't access the storage unit as a result. I'd say make your own deductions from there, but I think it's best to respect their privacy, even if a Sonic 1 beta cartridge is at question.

Meh, it's probably bit-rotted to death by now, so... Too late?

If we're lucky enough to see it actually working, it'll be disappointing AF.

The REAL Sonic 1 Beta is in all of us and always has been. :specialed:
