http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/22/sonic-cd-coming-to-xbla-playable-at-pax/ Hopefully this won't be a shitty Backbone port. EDIT: Note that Sega hasn't officially announced it yet. Major Nelson (Microsoft's Xbox 360 community manager) mentioned it in a blog post as one of the playable games at PAX. It's likely that this will be coming to PSN to.
I'd gladly pay the regular price for that personally. :v: Spoiler In all reality I could see myself paying double for that as well. I'm such a fickle person. Maybe being forced to play the US soundtrack would help me appreciate it more? I dunno. I'm kinda excited for this. The idea of the generic Backbone Menu creeping into this game is a bit off-putting though. As long as they give a way to access the Time Attacks it should be alright, I guess.
I really hope this has that shrunken title screen like every Vintage Collection game. I hate being able to see the title screen. They should continue removing those annoying menus too. I always hated being able to save in Sonic 3, and I ESPECIALLY hated that music playing in the save screen. No options or sound test would be another plus. And does anyone think this will include the 1-second lag feature the other digital Sonic games have on 360/PS3? I really like that. It helps make the games more difficult.
This will be a Day One purchase for sure. Regarding the soundtrack, I wouldn't put it past Sega to have the Japanese soundtrack as DLC for the US and vice versa elsewhere. Similar to the Sonic Adventure DX DLC.
Just let us use the original menus, maybe support for a decent Render Filter instead of that really crappy one they use (Something similar to the hq4x filter in KEGA Fusion would be delightful, with of course an option for a normal filter), 60 fps, and I'll settle for that. Throw in real widescreen (no not stretchscreen, REAL widescreen) and support for both soundtracks and SEGA TAKE ALL MY MONEY. But who are we kidding? Will just be another Vintage Collection/Backbone port. At least peeps who don't use emulators/bought Gems Collection/have the original SEGA CD copy/owned the PC port will get to play it.
I never bought Gems Collection, only Mega Collection Plus, and I can't figure out how to play the game on emu, so I can't wait for this. fry-all-my-rupees.jpg
Well that's cool, but it'll most likely be overcharged at probably around $15. Not like I'll get it anyway, I own both the Sega CD and PC versions, though I might if they include an option to choose soundtracks. If they, for some reason, decide to include only the PAL soundtrack, then fuck that noise.
EXCALIBUR! IT'S NOT THAT FAR! WHADDYA MEAN? GIVE AND TAKE! SONIC ZONE, LET'S GET 'LONE. GET OUT JAKE, GO ON HOME! LEATHER AND LACE LET'S GET HORNY READY GET SET FAST JET ZOOM ZOOM COSMIC BOOM LET'S GO GANG IT'S SONIC BOOM! (the way I always heard it at least)
Interesting that Sega's left Microsoft to do the announcement, or did they jump the gun a bit here? =P This better actually have the right soundtrack for the EU after the mess that was made of Sonic Gems Collection. An option for both would be better.
Please don't base it on the Gems Collection version Please don't base it on the Gems Collection version Please please please Or, if you do, at least go through the trouble of fixing it so that it has better sound quality and proper water coloration and doesn't omit the entire credits roll in favor of a shitty choppy-framerate version of the credits FMV. I don't give a shit about the retarded soundtrack war people have over this game, I just want it to play correctly.
