The laseractive was Megadrive AND Msx compatible, wasn't it? If so, mystery solved.

The Pioneer SEED TV Set was SG-1000 and MSX compatible

The Laseractive was Megadrive and NEC PC Engine compatible.

This disc appears to be for something different.

    I've heard of it

I believe it's the only one of its kind. From what I can see there were only a dozen or so LaserDisc releases for the MSX. Far more Mega LD ones.

Pyramid Patrol for Mega LD. Got the obi-strip and everything, and it was cheap too ($60).

Promotional laserdisc for Mega Drive / Mega CD circa. 1992-93. Haven't watched it yet because my laseractive still hasn't arrived. Hoping for beta footage of Sonic 2.

Do we know anything about this promo disc?

Is the beta running pose I can see in the Sonic 2 shot? Hard to tell

You're one badass motherfucker, Doc. Now record a playthrough for me.

Do the same for Quiz Econosaurus when (not if) you pick that up. It seems delightfully sardonic for a game of its ilk!

Hey Eggfan, do you have any Australian Sega Saturns? I can't find a good pic of the serial sticker on the back. The ones for models mk-80200-03 and mk-80200a-03.

A bit off topic but here you go

Sorry about the flash, but that's the best I could do. When I don't use flash, my caffiene addled body can't hold a camera straight and I end up with a blurry image

Damn, you save the day again.

Yeah, the flash can be bothersome. Only real solution is to use proper lightning - like a reading lamp pointed on top of it. Someone with real photographing knowledge could give proper advice though (I need some myself).

There is one more Australian model that I know to exist, a model 2 MK-80200A-03 with the serial starting with AD69... . The sticker on the back is different on that, but I only have a low-res pic, and I don't want to do more off-topic crap here. Once I get my DB more presentable, I'll start another topic about it.

  12. Just posting here to say that a "LaserActive Preservation Project" has opened up.

It might be a good idea to contribute to it.

Finally got it home. The laserdisc player works fine, and Pyramid patrol works fine, but neither my tototek flash cart or the region free Pier Solar works in the cart slot. I'm dissapointed, but I'll track down a jap cart and see if that makes a difference.

Do games not using the CD work at all? If not, maybe there are some connection issues.

And, don't expect Pier Solar's CD functionality to work at all on the LaserActive. The BIOS is in a completely different place so most likely Pier Solar won't detect it. Same with the WonderMega, the BIOS probably isn't detected because its header is different. Unless Watermelon explicitly tested against all the clones too, but I doubt so...

Yeah, I just tested the cart on it's own, didn't worry about the cd

Try one of the Sonic games or something. You know, a cartridge that doesn't have anything weird on it (this also means no flashcarts). If that doesn't work then there are connection issues (either the module isn't properly in place or the cartslot is damaged).

EDIT: and the firmware should not be kicking in so the region shouldn't matter other than the usual (I.e. games with built-in region lock-out).

Nevermind, it turns out I was putting the carts in wrong. Label faces down, not up.

If I want to play ecco cd, what would be the best easiest thing to do? Download ecco cd iso for the us sega cd and modify the region header? Or does ecco the dolphin cd for japan have english text?
