Sonic CD US: I personally prefer this one to the JPN track. I love most of these, with the exception of Tidal Tempest. Again, I can't pick favorites. The Special Stage song in this fits the slower Special Stages on the SCD and PC versions.

Sonic CD JPN: These aren't bad per se, just not as good. Tidal Tempest fits perfectly, but the otyhers just sound out of place. They're better if you listen to hem out of the game. This Special Stage song would be perfect for the sped up Special Stages in Gems.

And there in a nutshell is the reason why they remade the music for the US in the first place.

1. Tidal Tempest - Sonic CD
I cannot begin to tell you about this song. I could listen to it for days.

2. This Machine - Julien-K
<33333333333333

3. Door into Summer - Chaotix
This is just different in a way that rocks.

So many more, these slots change every day.

S&K - Lava Reef Zone Act 1

S3 - Ice Cap Zone Act 1

SCDUS - Tidal Tempest Present

I listen to a lot of Sonic music, but I decided to choose from the classic games to make it easier on me. No particular order.

I write music, so basically every song on this list has inspired me in one way or another.

Sonic 1: Spring yard, Scrap Brain, and Labyrinth are my favorites from this game, although I actually enjoyed the entire sound track.

Sonic 2: I actually didn't like sonic 2's soundtrack that much. Chemical PLant, Aquatic Ruin (which I used to hate) Casino night , and mystic cave were all good, but the stand out best song in the soundtrack is Sky Chase.

Sonic CD: I love almost all the songs on both soundtracks, although the american ones didn't fit the levels in my opinion. My favorites are Metalic Madness (US) Tidal Tempest (JP) Quartz Quadrant (JP) Stardust Speedway (JP) Palmtree Panic (US)

Sonic 3: I honestly can't find a song that I don't like on this soundtrack. My favorites were (in order of appearance) competition and ALL competition levels, Hydro City, Marble Garden, Ice Cap, Launch Base, s3 credits , Mushroom hill, Flying Battery , Lava Reef/ Hidden Palace, Death Egg, final boss. DEZ and ICZ and S3C being the favorites.

Sonic 3d: Panic Puppet/Volcano Valley for the win
Sonic 3d on Saturn: I loved every song. Even the cheesy Volcano Valley and Diamond Dust ones.

Knuckles Chaotix: I love the entire fucking soundtrack. Door in to Summer, and Level hub place thing (Evening).

The new games: I used to hate their soundtracks, but upon re-listening, I like alot of 'em. My very favorite songs, hands down, are Hanging Castle and Mystic Mansion from Heroes

Wacky Workbench - Sonic CD (US)
Same deal with Tidal Tempest

Casino Night Zone - Sonic 2 (1 Player)
It fits the level, and sounds catchy.

Options - Sonic Spinball
Definatly rocks, it'd be better in real quitar.

Sonic Boom - Sonic CD (US)
Also don't know why on this one.

Stardust Speedway - Sonic CD (US)
And this one...

Toot Toot Sonic Warrior - Sonic CD (JAP/EU)

I like all the music in The first sonics (S1, S2, SCD, S3, S&K), But Chrome gadget on S3 Is my favourite, For whatever reason.

But it seems like they took more time on 2P soundtracks. For example, Emerald Hill's music just sounds like a normal Grassy level. But in 2P the atmosphere completely changes. It gives the feeling of a small, Sunny island, Completely untouched by Machinery or Electricity, with flowing grass and flowers.

Also, does anyone happen to have Sonic Heroes (full version, heard during Last/Super Hard credits) and the four team themes? If so, PM me. I'd much appreciate someone willing to give me them.

I don't have the themes, but I do have the full Sonic Heroes song. I'll try and have it uploaded for you as soon as I can.

Preach on, brother. Other favorites of mine include most of the themes from Shadow the Hedgehog (espcially Never Turn Back), the Sonic Adventure 2 soundtrack (Period. I need not say more), and What I'm Made Of from Sonic Heroes. As honorable mentions, I'd include Casino Paradise Zone Act 1 from Sonic Advance because the piano solo is amazing and Angel Island Zone Act 1, also from Sonic Advance, not so much for the music itself but for what I associate with it.

1. Sonic Heroes - This Machine

2. Sonic Heroes - What I'm made of

3. Sonic Adventure - Windy and Ripply (second section of Emerald Coast)

I like most of the Sonic music really, but these 3 just seemed to stand out the most for me. If I could pick a 4th, I'd have to pick Sonic's Theme from Sonic Adventure. I love the guitar on that.

Finally for a 5th, it would have to be Mystic Mansion from Sonic Heroes. That music fits the level perfectly, and I just love the way it plays certain parts of it on a loop depending on where in the level you are.

EDIT: Robjoe, I've got the full Sonic Heroes soundtrack. I'll rip it and try and upload them soon.

Can you let me know when you upload it as well? I've been looking for "Mystic Mansion" for ages.

If it's Sonic music you're looking for, look no further:

http://sonic.planets...y.com/games.php

They had to redo their site awhile back and had to take everything down and upload everything back up, a lot of the newer music (SA and beyond) is up, while they are slowly putting back up the classics as well....

For 3 Sonic Songs that have been an inspiration and have actually "moved me" are as follows....but are in by no means any order:

- Flying Battery Zone Act 2

- Metal Harbor

- Mystic Mansion (for the same reasons listed above)

I have many many favorites, but these stick out the most....and the forgotten and bypassed "Tribute" for Knuckles Chaotix......it never got to FULLY see the light of day outside the sound test.

Shit I can't believe I forgot Metal Harbor. That has to go in at #5 for me. Mystic Mansion just dropped a place.

Almost everything from Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Oh wait, top 3? Crap, that's gonna be hard to do.

...

Almost everything from Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Most of the Sonic CD US music, and a few select tracks from Sonic Adventure.

There's absolutely no way I'm whittling it down to 3.

Don't know if it's been done before, but I like this topic.

HM) Sky Sanctuary
- Hard to explain. I think it fits the mood of the level perfectly.

HM) Chemical Plant Zone
- Mostly just for nostalgia.

3) Starlight Zone
- Extremely catchy. If I could play piano, this would be the song I'd learn.

2) Hydrocity Zone - Act 2
- Definitely can't explain this one.

1) Flying Battery Zone - Act 2
- This is just the sweetest sonic song ever. EVER. It translates into other styles very well too. E.g. my friend Eric has a jazz/funk version of this song on his myspace. Myspace sucks, but the song is sweet.

I'd have to say that's my list right there. :) Except I love all music from the Sonic Genesis series, and some Knuckles Choatix. Today's Sonic music blows chunks.
