Been meaning to see if these fit together for ages. Not the best mashing up but you get the gist.

So I was listening to some of the music from Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, and well, this song in particular popped up. At least to me, the beginning to me sounds like something from Shadow the Hedgehog, then it kind of goes into sounding like something from Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. 0:48 in particular kind of reminds me of some of Tails' stages in Adventure 2.

Huh, reminds me of Prison Lane in particular.

Been a while since I listened to the SA2 soundtrack, but I get what you mean. I think parts of Mission Street and Eternal Engine also came to mind, but it could be just me.

Put a riff from Live and Learn and it's a perfect fit!

Was this ever posted before? If not, holy moly.

Ironically, the same thing happened with the same demo song on Trolls 2.

Now we know why the song was changed in the Game Gear version. :P

Oof, that's a great find! I wonder if the other zones that were tweaked a bit had a reason to be.. (Aqua Planet and Sleeping Egg) though those were only slight edits rather than entirely different songs so maybe not.

Well shit, it practically is Gigalopis Zone's main parts in there. How did we not noticed this at all until now for 5 and a half years? :specialed:

That's pretty insane. So that's two Sonic tracks (Ice Cap and Gigalopolis) based on some (non-SEGA) prior work. Both of these are from tracks that ended up getting replaced in their ports, too. Makes me wonder if any other tracks have such dubious origins.

Turquoise Hill was also slightly different, but these changes seem small enough that it was probably just to make it sound better.

I'm not sure anyone noticed this one

the NEW NEW NEW NEW sounds just like the first second of Splash hill, and I can't help but start thinking about the rest of the bgm when ever I hear that bit of promotional bumper.

Did a super-quick search and it didn't appear that this had been pointed out yet: Glam Slam by Prince sounds an awful lot like Chemical Plant at just around 3:52 minutes in.

Sky Chase Zone in Sonic 2 sounds like "Ironic" by Alanis Morrisette in some parts, Mainly the first few seconds & around the 25 seconds mark in the song. Even though the Song came out 3 years later after Sonic 2

Metropolis Zone in Sonic 2 has a strong resemblance to "1999" by Prince

Lava Reef Zone Act 1 sounds slightly similar to "When Doves Cry" by Prince

Marble Garden Act 2 sounds vaguely like "If I Had No Loot" By Tony! Toni! Tone!

The Game Over Theme from Sonic 3/& Knuckles sounds like the final few notes from "Let's Go Crazy" by Prince
